The truth is finally coming out about this animal.  Although it was killed in what B&C has classified as fair chase and eligible for their book, the way it was done has left ethical hunters shaking their heads.  The guy paid well over $125,000 for the tag and then paid an outfitter something like $30,000 to find a good animal, if my memory serves me right.  The outfitter hired a bunch of people to go out and scour the countryside and once they found that bull they literally camped out, watched and followed him until the guy showed up and then it still supposedly took him 13 days before he was able to shoot him.  The claims are that they threatened and harrassed other legal hunters in the limited quota unit to keep them away from the bull in order to make sure their guy shot him.  If that is the case, and it appears to be so, it will be interesting to see if the guy has the guts to describe his hunt in any of the hunting magazines.  It might have been what is described as fair chase, but that isn't hunting to me!  The only good thing I can say is that the bull was an unbelievable specimen for a public land animal, but the circumstances under which it was taken turn my stomach!  What do the rest of you think?

Mike I heard the same story,... it's not what I would call "FAIR CHASE" and it certainly shouldn't find it's way in ANY record book as one.

Mike, I'm going to have to agree with you on that one. I don't know the whole story behind how he was able to harvest an animal of that magnitude but if he did spend that much for it and had other guys do the work, what a waste!!!
Most public land guys that I know of are all diy guys. Makes the harvest that more special. That's my thought. But still an incredible animal.

An animal of that stature deserved to be taken under better conditions than that of being rounded up like some herd of cattle and disposed of.

It was a beautiful representation of it's species.

I wonder if he did it to get the caliber he designed and built noticed so he could make money off selling it. Kind of makes you wonder what the reasons were for killing such a magnificent animal in such a way.

Good question Todd, but as far as I'm concerned he can take that gun and stick it where the sun don't shine
