two week count down to Hog hunting

Going Hog hunting in 2 weeks. My wife finally said she would like to go and shoot one(Cuzz their Ugly). Her bow is old and a PSE wheel bow and pulls at about 45-46 lbs. Gold tip 400 carbon arrows. I want her to be sucecssfull but am starting to worry about the penitration abliities of her 2 blade Rocket steelhead broadheads. Are these sufficient for her bow or would a fixed 2 blade be better. I have Muzzy's and old Satalites but unsure what would be best for her low poundage bow? Starting to stress!

Good luck for you and the Mrs.! Hope you score a few. The Muzzys should do fine for a lung shot. I would avoid the shoulder unless they are within 20yds. That shoulder plate can be tough for low poundage. Cut on contact broad heads may not have the tip strength to punch through.

Love playing that string music and sending a Muzzy flying!

Either shoot them very low, right behind the shoulder on a broadside shot or wait for a qtr'ing away and slip one in behind the shoulder plate about midway back in the ribs. If not, the poundage will become and issue. The qtr'ing away shot will result in good penetration with whatever BH you use.

Thanks Guys! She has been drilling the heart shot out to 30 yards but becomes spuratic at farther shots. w'ell keep it inside 30 and pray for a 1/4ing away shot. She's awsome and this is my chance to share my Love for hunting and the animals we hunt with her. Want it to be a good experience!

Huntin, Just be patient. When a group comes in, it will be chaos, but it will settle down as the corn is gobbled up. The shot will present itself. If you get a loner, wait on the good shot, it is most likely a boar. Good luck and happy huntin. Where are you going?

Personally I highly recommend a cut on contact fixed 2 blade broadhead for low poundage bows.
