Never tried, but I'm sure it takes a big paddle and more than a little Jack to git -er-done.

ya i have alot of work...i wouldn't recomend it i still tan smaller fur bearers but a bear is large....go for it if you want big problem is to get it degreased.....flesh clean then some guys wash in coleman camp fuel. You have to get the grease out of hide & fur so the tanning agent you decide to use is not effected. there is alot of chemicals you can use to make a tanning bath or you can do it dry tan. i'm sure those tanning kits you can buy " with everything needed" would work just never used one it won't turn out as good as pro tannery....good luck!
