Of all the forums I belong to and all the threads I have read, the kindness and generousity in this one is by far the best.  When I attempt to expalin to my wife why hunting and the outdoors is so important to me all I can tell her is the people whom you share the outdoors with are a family.  For the most part that is.  This thread is a prime example of that.  One outdoors man helping out another.  It makes me proud to know that there are people out there that still care about tradition and how important the outdoors are making a strong family structure.  In the nature mgoodman check out my website and see if there is anything you like for yourself send me a pm on an entire setup and I will see what kind of deal I can get you.

I am of the opinion that life is just to short to fight about a common likeness.  We are all here for the same reason cause we love this sport.  So as long as we can all keep that in our minds,  we can feel free to express our opinions and just maybe show each other some insider tips from the pros.  Cause we all know that there are a few around here somewhere.

Mike,..

Thought I'd take a minute out from all my workin' on my boat to ask how that young man was fairing with his exercises,...

Has he started shooting his bow yet ? Keep us posted on how he's doing.

It's an old post, but I'm a little slow in responding at times I guess.

7MM - He is doing well. It took most of the winter to draw and shoot with a steady arm. I guess shoveling all that snow helped too. He is doing well now.

As for an update. My son had a young boy in his class that I guess overheard my son talking of hunting and his bow. The young man mentioned that he would like to learn as well but didn't have a bow. My son had some Christmas money saved up, so he picked up a bow for himeself and donated the bow to his new friend. It worked out well as they were not able to buy a bow for their son at the time and my son saw the need/want.
Needless to say, my son made a friend for life with "T" and his family (I hardly see him now, they shoot together at his house 2-3 times a week right now).
My son explained to them that when the bow was outgrown or a new one picked up that they had to "Pass it on". It's now known as the "Pass It On Bow" to the boys and they are having a great time learning together.

My son has shown me a new side to him. He's becoming a caring and knowledgeable young man who thinks of other people first and of making new friends.

M,.. that's great to hear!

I'm glad your son learned a couple of valuable lessons out of this,.. patience and hard work to get something you really want, and practicing a skill to hone yourself to be able to use it proficiently to move up to the next level.

Not to mention that now,... he too has been able to "pass it on" to another.

I couldn't ask for anymore to happen,.. just hopefully it keeps on happening. The only way we can keep this fine tradition alive is to keep on passing it along.

I'm glad I was able to be a part of it all once again,..
Shoot Straight & Stay Safe !

My hats off to both of you guys. You have not only showed how much that both of you care for our growing youth, but also showed them that there is alot of good in the world of BS. M, your son has learned some very good lesson and you have to thank yourself for that also. After all he is YOUR son. Both of you guys have also helped keep our Hunting Heritage alive and kicking. Again my hats off to you both.

Steve...Are you really suprised by the generosity?  I have seen plenty of help, prayers, advice, hunts and equipment flying around here.  Without the pettiness that I have seen on other boards.  Good folks draw good folks and weed out those that want to cause dissention.

Ain't that the truth!!! I would love to meet that boy and his Daddy some day because you can just tell they are the salt of the earth!!!  In fact, I think from what I've seen on this site that there are a lot of folks on here that meet that standard and I'm very proud to be associated with all of you!!!

I second that emotion!
The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.

Did I sound or appear to be surprised in one of my posts?  If that's the case I was definitely PLEASANTLY SURPRISED by Terry's generosity!  LOL!

Take care and Good Hunting!

Din't surprise me ... much ...

This bunch of regulars and newcomers I've seen since I joined up seems to be (imho) a fine bunch of true sportspersons ... and seein' that one (or more) of 'em does sumthin' to share or help or advise or merely support another is ... perty much whut I'd hope they'd do ...

I think we're all perty much comfortable with our Nimrodness ... and whut we like, we tend to share with others ... (Even Scrooge saw the light, eventually, and shared happiness with other folks ... ) (Scrooge is me, in case y'all wondered ... )
All of life is six-to-five against, just enough to keep you interested. (Damon Runyan)
