minnesota bear down - Friday, September 04, 2009 8:32 PM ( #1 )
finally got to get a bear hunt in.  bad things have prevented the past couple hunts from happening.  well, finally got to go, and did it the right way.  second day, bow and arrow, 60 yard recovery.  wife was with me for the hunt.  bears and bows.  nothing better.

sorry, to make you look at the whole trip, but says the files are too big to post.

186 lbs. field dressed, 5'3"-5'6", didn't straighten out the head and neck for an official measurement, and head measured 18 3/4.  but since I have no idea what I am doing with that, not sure how close I am to the P&Y number of 18"?

Steve, forgot to mention.  the guy standing in the picture with the wife, and then with me, is Dan Young, from the Outdoor Traditions TV show, and the Outdoors Dan radio program.  nice guy.  may take me up on my offer to come and hunt southern illinois around the farm.  he's hunted down in that area before, and has an idea of where it is.  anyways, since he's from missouri also, figured I tell you about him.

good luck on your hunt.  hope you have as much fun as we did.

Nice job. A much better start to the fall season than we had for the spring season.

already at the taxidermists.  started working on him as we were leaving.  he does his own tanning, sso, depending on how long it takes for him to get the form, will depend on how long it takes to get back.  he's figuring 8 weeks?  seems like it would take longer, but if he's doing the tanning himself, guess it could be done that quick.

full body, leg up, have him similar to what he was when he was at the bait site.  before I shot him.

keep going south on 142 and eventually you will hit my place.  I'm down past karber ridge road in hardin county.  been thru mccleansboro many times since I bought my place back in 2000.  now that I live down here, after the house up north burnt down in april, down here full time now.  less traveling, thats for sure.  loving every minute of it.  more time for the food plots and relaxing.

like the hoyt.  but don't love it like the last one I had.  still debating that new alpha max.  time and money will tell on that one.

Sorry to hear your other place burnt. Hope no one was hurt.

Had hands on an alpha max last weekend. Niiiiiiiiiice! They had the regular camo models, but they also had a solid black one that was awesome! That is a nice bow.

We come into Paducah and turn north thru the country and cross the Shawnytown bridge and go that way, just north of you. Will be up on Oct. 3 for the whole next week hanging stands and hunting some.
