hunting antelope in Wy - Wednesday, April 22, 2009 10:51 AM ( #1 )
Great news. Looks like I'm going to make it out to Wy to hunt antelope this fall. I also will have my wife along for this trip. Thats a double bonus! This will be her first time going on a hunting trip with me.

Sounds great!!! Are you going to use a bow or firearms? Is the wife going to get a chance to tag one?

That is good news, car ... allus a good thing when a person can trust a companion that's carryin' sum sorta weapon ... I gotta feel that it's improved some aspects of life with My Bride, and I know it's made me a bit more ... um ... well-behaved? ... in other ways ...

Besides ... that sorta thing can lead to expansion of the ordnance inventory in the Arms Room ... that's never a bad thing, IMHO ...

I'm excited for ya car. I know how much better it is when you get the wife to go with ya. Got my wife into archery about 5 years ago. One of the best things I've ever done, I think.

Have you applied in the draw or are you planning on buying leftover tags when they go on sale in July?  I go out every year for two to four weeks, so if you need any help or information on Wyoming give me a holler!!!

It will be the 11th of Oct before we make it out there. That will only leave us till the 15th to hunt. I will be the only one with any tags. I can't make up my mind as to what tags to get. I think that I just will get a antelope tag. Not sure if I want the pressure of filling a deer tag with only 4 days to hunt. I will use my Rem 7mm.

While we are out there we are going to look for land to buy. We would like to find something on the northeastern part of the state. From Newcastle to the north would be nice. If anyone knows of any land for sale let me know. We are looking to move in 3 to 4 years.

Topgun 3006 what area do you hunt when you go out? I will get a left over tag.

Region M for deer---100% draw with no PPs.  Unit 115 for antelope, but it takes 2 or 3 PPs.  We will draw with 3 PPs this year.  That NE part of the state is great.  I would love to live in the Black Hills of Wyoming or SD!!!

I hunted that area last fall for goats - love it!

I have two friends who live there - one in Newcastle and the other in Sundance - if you want some contact info, pm me.
They're great guys, and loads of fun to hunt with.

Congrat's on your upcoming trip to WY  for Antelope. Good luck to you and your wife both. I know that there is no shortage of them out there. They are everywhere.

car,If you can get a woman to hunt with you, she will get hooked!!! Having a live in hunting partner is one of the  best things. It makes booking a hunt sooo much easier!

Mine is hooked now and wants me to find her more places to hunt hogs so she can get the practice in for deer season.  LOL

That's great, Gary!

My Bride only hunts deer with me (and moose and elk, of course, but now that she's had both tags, she's done with the "special" hunting trips ... deer only, but that's still a lot of fun ... ), and if I have a buck tag in a different unit, she's not worried about stayin' home and resting after another week @ the store ... but it gives us time together, and she hasn't yet heard ALL of my huntin' stories ...

AND ...

some of the ordnance in the vault is hers, and it's always nice to have an excuse or reason to take her to the range, or talk about new firearms ... and mebbe I can persuade her to put in for a Prairie Goat tag someday ...

I was wondering if you saw my post. I've hunted with Brad several times. I've met Ronnie but, haven't hunted with him. I love it out there. That's why we are moving out there.

I'd move there too if it was just me.  But, my wife isn't quite as interested in living there as I am.
She'd probably love some of it, but I've got some work to do converting her.

Can't wait to hunt there again!

Ronnie is working on mounting my pronghorn from last year - should be getting done soon.
