Sounds like you live right in the area where we have been pheasant hunting the last two years.  We hunted a lot of spots from the state line down to and around the lake at Downs and Glen Elder.  How have the birds done out there this winter and what town are you near?

topgun I work in Nebraska quite a bit so I don't get to see pheasant and quail this time of year as much. My brother feeds cattle at 3 farms everyday and says he is seeing quite a few birds and they haven't seen any dead birds anywhere in the creeks or in the pastures. I enjoy the upland game hunting and blackpowder hunting, 4-wheeler riding in the pastures or even on the country roads just looking at nature.

We must have been pretty close to your farms, as we started out just west of Republic and worked our way down to the southwest near the big lake at Downs.  Glad to hear that the birds seem to have made it okay.  I don't know if we will be back in that area this year or not.  I think we may revisit southwest North Dakota where we ran into more birds than I have ever seen three years ago.  And for BIG Dawg---yea, I said we ran into them, not that I shot a lot of them, LOL!!!   My Dad used to kid me when we were out together and I'd make my routine miss by saying: "You couldn't hit a bear in the ass with a bass fiddle!".  At 85 he is still going strong and was as good a wing shot as I have seen, whether it be doves, ducks, or pheasants.  He just didn't pass along that shooting gene to me, but he sure passed along his love for the outdoors!!!
