Wow, that is a long time to just get in the running for a tag.

Heck I guess I'm in the same boat. I have 9pts for elk in Colorado.

I won't cash in my chips until I move to Wy, that way I can go to Colorado and do some serious scouting before app for a tag.

Mont:

You better spend those 2 years getting in the best shape of your life because that hunt is brutal!  The Bow Zone area near Canmore in November is the normal time frame when you hunt those rams if you hunt with archery equipment and the weather can be extremely unfavorable, plus you are traversing serious mountain range that is normally covered in ice and snow.  If you go with a rifle, you'll probably pack in on a horse and spend a lot of time in the saddle and in a spike camp while hunting in September and October.

You may want to start a running and cardiovascular program and get yourself in sheep-hunting-shape starting right now!

Good luck on the draw.

Take care and Good Hunting!

Best Afield,

Steve
