RE: Tina's Axis.... - Thursday, August 20, 2009 6:53 AM ( #41 )
Hey tx; change of plans now....we cant get our plans together, with our hunting group, for the brady ranch so thinking about a public land elk hunt at the Humble Ranch near Steamboat Springs Co. We have some buddys hunting out there Sept 2-17 and it helps having all the hands you can. It is bow only and no 4 wheelers on the ranch, everything packed in and out on your back!! I never have harvested an elk, so this will be tough Making plans to head out Sept 9-16...hope it works out!!!

Here is a group pic from Tina's Axis hunt down at the Brady Ranch in Fla. Her daughter on the far left with her fiancee, and Tina and her hubby on the far right.

Good luck on your pack hunt for elk Tina. Better start them staiirs with that pack on your back, if you have not already. Riding a bike works well also. I have hunted around Steamboat Springs before. Beautiful country and can be tough depending on where you are at too. Keep an eye on the weather. Pack light but for all season. Again, good luck and let us know how y'all do.

Are yu walking with the pack on Tina. Bike riding also help with the legs and lungs. If you have a semi deep ditch, that works real well with the pack on. Up and down, up and down. It gets boring after about the 1 trip.  LOL

  Nice pic, Tina!
Never been elk hunting before, but the better shape you're in, the more options the guide has for you to get a big critter.  Or so I've read!!  You just limit yourself if you're not in some shape (like me!!).  Good luck, Tina!
