What were they thinking? - Monday, March 23, 2009 1:41 PM ( #1 )
A Story from the March 23, 2009 edition of Bowhunting World.

Pastor, Parishioner Fined For Shooting Arrow In Church
A pastor and church member of Sheboygan Falls Pentecostal Church in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, were cited and fined $109 each for firing an arrow in the church during a sermon.

Rev. John Putnam and Jason Wike were using the steel-tipped arrow as a demonstration to the congregation. Wike fired the arrow into a foam target across the church using a compound bow, despite another member's repeated protests.

"I used the practice arrow just as the fact that an arrow by itself—your testimony by itself—is no good, so you have to have a bow, and the bow is that equipment," Putnam told the Sheboygan Press. "And you have to have a target, and still with all that if you never pull it back and release it, then it still does not accomplish its objective."

Not everyone felt the message was appropriate. The protester was asked to leave and then called the Sheboygan Falls police, who responded to the church and delivered citations for firing a missile indoors, and ordinance violations.

I'm a little dumbfounded by this one. I don't know what to say. Everything in the story seems to be a little out there.

I don't know what to tell you my friend, I wasn't there and only relayed exactly what was written in the article.  In my years on this planet, I seen enough that this just would not surprise me....

Cheers,

With all the nut jobs going into our churches and killing folks and even themselves, things have gotten out of control.  We did drama's in church years ago that involved an obviously fake firearm.  Not long after that, that guy walked into the church in Oklahoma and started firing and members thought it was a drama.  My Pastor said that no dangerous weapon, real or fake, would ever be used in a drama again!

We have several Law Enforcement folks in our church.  From local Police to Sheriff's Deputies to a former Secret Service agent.  Any given Sunday there are 5-7 people packing at our church.  Sad that it has to be that way, but we need to protect our Spiritual Coverings no matter what!

Whether you attend a small country church, mega church or somewhere in between every house of worship needs to think about their security on any given Sunday and mid-week service.  I believe that every person who has a concealed carry license needs to discuss this with their Pastor, Priest, Rabbi or other Spiritual covering.  Houses of worship are just as much a target as our schools and malls.  No matter your religion...be safe and make your house of worship a place of peace.

The city of Houston,Tx has banned Uncle Ted from ever doing another concert here ever again for shooting his famed "Flaming" arrow across the stage during one of his concerts. That is part of his show, was not aimed at anyone, and with his skills, I personally would not have been worried but as in the earlier post, it takes one individual that does not agree with it and now the problem starts.
