Watch those cables

Keep an eye on your bus and control cables where they come in contact with the cable slide. I just had to have a new control cable installed on my PSE Excursion and my PSE X-force. The cables began to fray at the contact point with the cable slide. I corrected this by having serving installed on the new cables where this contact is occuring. I also changed out the cable slides for one that did not have a manufacturing seam at this point. For those that hunt with their bows only you may not encounter this anytime soon, but for someone like me who is competing in 3D and other IBO events and shoots 200 to 300 arrows in a month this will manifest itself alot sooner. Have your bows checked out and have your pro perform the above fix and everything will be good to go. good luck and good shooting

I have had to reserve my bow a couple of times. Not becuase I had to but served the areas of the string that are the higher friction areas. I shoot about 2-300 arrows most days and know all about the friction areas I also wax the string quite often. Like any other piece of equipment it all comes down to how good you maintain you equipment. The old Fred Bear Element is a tough bow, I have shot the crap out of it and it still shoots great.

I have a strict maintenance schedule with both my hunting bow and my tournament bow. I use scorpion venom(www.scorpionvenomarchery.com) to lubricate my strings, cables and cams after every shooting session and clean them with anti-venom and reapply the scorpion venom once a month. I have found wax to be too abrasive in the application process and lacks the penetrating power of the polymetric fluids that I now use. The cause of my failure was not equipment maintenance, but a manufacturing defect in the cable slide. I have seen several other tourny archers encounter this failure from time time. Most of us have now made it a point to replace the factory cable slide with a better quality after market version.

Where can you get the scorpion venom, just on line? I might have to give it a try, it's not that I don't like the wax but that is all that I have used. I just work it in real good, I have had good luck but I am always looking for better products.

Ask your local archery pro, he might have it in stock. I just find it easier to purchase online at www.scorpionvenomarchery.com If you order it make sure to get the String Lube, Cam and Serving Lube and Anti-Venom for cleaning. For tournament archers also make sure you get the Target Arrow release fluid, this stuff works great.

What is the full scoop on the target arrow lube, I have a good taget but I am so sick of pulling arrows that are so hard.

The target arrow lube is a polymetric material that resists the heat caused by the friction generated when the arrow penetrates a foam target. You apply it to the first couple inches of the arrow and removal from the target is effortless. One application will last a single round of 30 3D targets. Applying this material to your arrow will not affect your arrow flight. I don't recommend using it if your shooting into haybales or other non-foam targets, as the arrow will just gunk up with dirt and debris from these type tatgets. I recommend getting a bottle of each of the products and see for yourself just how good this stuff is.
