Turkey Hunter Flees After Shooting Other Hunter Tuesday, May 12, 2009 It happened Monday in Webster County. A Webster County man was injured while turkey hunting, after being shot in the arm by another hunter. It happened Monday, around 9:30 a.m., in the Pleasant Ridge - Upper glade area of Webster County. Victor McClure, 45 of Upper Glade, was treated and released from the hospital, after getting hit in the leg, forearm and side, with 16 pellets from a shotgun blast. The hunter who shot McClure fled the scene. McClure was able to drive himself home on his ATV, before being taken to the hospital. The Division of Natural Resources is investigating the incident and believes the shooter was 40 to 50 away from McClure when he was shot. McClure was hunting alone on his own property when he was shot. If you have any information on the incident, you can call the DNR in Cowen at (304) 226-3678 or in Elkins at (304) 637-0245. McClure served on the Webster County Commission from 1997 to 2002. Another turkey hunter, Shawn Stewart, 32, was shot and killed in Lewis County on the opening day of the season. Stewart's shooter also fled and has not been located yet. The state police and the DNR are investigating that case.
