Johnstown man shot in hunting accident May 8, 2009 MORGAN COUNTY — A Columbus firefighter who calls Johnstown home is recovering in a Columbus hospital after he was shot in what appears to be a hunting accident, according to the Columbus Fire Department. Lt. David Blair was shot in the back and chest area with buckshot by a friend with whom he was turkey hunting on Blair’s property in Morgan County, CFD Battalion Chief David Whiting said. The incident occurred sometime between 6 and 6:40 a.m. this morning, he added. He was taken by emergency medical helicopter to Grant Medical Center where he underwent surgery for multiple organ injuries, including a punctured lung, Whiting said. Blair, a 16-year veteran, is currently in serious, but stable, condition and should be released from the hospital within a week, Whiting said. He was unsure of the firefighter’s long-term prognosis. The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office did not return calls.
