Tn's Last Elk Tag - Wednesday, July 29, 2009 10:51 AM ( #1 )
Sold!

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Foundation (TWRF) sold the final Tennessee Special Elk Take Permit on eBay last night. The winning bid among 31 bidders was $17,700, placed by Andy Miller, a businessman from Franklin, Tenn.

This permit is one of five (5) bull elk tags issued to sportsmen for Tennessee's 2009 Elk Season.

The four (4) additional permits were issued to applicants drawn through the TWRA quota hunt drawing system. Winners were announced at the June 17-18 meeting of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Commission. The winners, all Tennessee residents, were Craig Gardner, of Parrotsville, Charles Ray Flynn of Rockford, Ronald L. Woodard, of Oak Ridge, and Jeffrey L. Moses, of Cleveland.

100% of the proceeds from the eBay sale of this special elk tag will go to the exclusive benefit of the elk restoration program. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Foundation is partnering with, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF), the Tennessee Wildlife Federation (TWF), and Safari Club International (SCI) on the promotion and sale of this Elk Tag.

For more information visit www.twrf.net.

The elk hunt will take place at the North Cumberland WMA in East Tennessee from October 19th to the 23rd of 2009. All 5 hunters will also be invited to attend an elk camp complete with wall tents, campfires, meals, and entertainment. The elk camp will be held at the property of Terry Lewis near the North Cumberland WMA Elk Viewing Tower. Sponsors for the event include TWRF, TWRA, TWF, RMEF, and Campbell Outdoor Recreation Association (CORA).

This is Tennessee’s first elk hunt in almost 150 years, and the hunters who participate should expect a hunt of a lifetime.
