Thanking Colorado for youth hunts

My youngest was drawn for an OTC youth cow elk hunt in late season (December). He will get 3 days to attempt to take a cow elk up in Kessler Canyon. I applaud Colorado for their youth hunting opportunities. In case anyone didn't know, there are a lot of youth chances in Colorado. A youth can exchange their unfilled tags for late season tags in certain areas of the state. I guess it would be pretty similar to a cull hunt, since they are usually only taking doe or cow...but either way, it does get them out in the field for a second chance at an animal. There is a great mentoring program in CO as well. I've been reading up on it and they always need additional volunteers, hunt masters, etc. While I spend the time now with my own boys, I will definately be giving them some time in a few years when my own move on into their own lives. once again... Thank you Colorado Department of Wildlife for helping our kids. Mike Goodman Bayfield, CO
