Swine Flu and crossing into Canada - Thursday, April 30, 2009 10:50 AM ( #1 )
Anyone else worried about Canada closing the border? I have just a little over 5 weeks to go before my bear hunt in BC.

Heck if they won't close the border with Mexico, not to worry about the Canadian border, I think, lol....

While my thots are to enjoy the joking back and forth here, I'm pessimistic enuf about anythin' to do with Government Procedures to wonder if the Canadian Customs official MIGHT decide to require proof of vaccination ...

Is there such a thing as that for Swine Flu? I don't pay enuf attention to know ...

I have my shot records with me wherever I go anyways, just in case. It's especially needed when traveling overseas.

I'll resort to jabbing myself with a lawn dart if I have to show "proof of a puncture wound".

We may have to try and get together for dinner or something when we are both in Wi. Find a half way point or something.

I hope it will not come to that but anything can happen I imagine. I'm not heading North till September, I hope it will all go away by then.

Steve --

NEVER apologize for punning ... puns are GREAT! They're a mark of intelligence, and an agile mind ...

Gary:

Yeah we'll have to see if we can make that happen.  I'm scheduled to be there from October 25th through November 1st or 2nd, and then I have to head back to hunt in north Missouri on the 2nd or 3rd of November, so it will be a little tight.  I also have a ton of family and friends that are requesting my presence as well since I haven't been back to Wisconsin for going on 7 or 8 years.  I'm hoping that I get lucky within the first couple of days with a big buck and then I can go and visit with friends and family for a few day before I'm due to return to Missouri.

None of my teachers in high school would have ever accused me of having "a mark of intelligence or an agile mind".  LOL!

Well ... if any of 'em had a genuine sense of humor (one of mine in HS did NOT) and you've punned 'em a bit, they might've given you the benefit of doubt ... or not ... teachers can be weird ... (like me, for instance) ...

All of my family is up there also and like I have said, I go back every yr for the season. My philosophy is" I'm here to hunt, if you want to see me, you know where I'm at".  LOL  Priorities bro...............LOL  But I understand the time diff in when you saw them last. As it gets closer we'll talk more.  I like the first week of Nov more anyways, so I'll have the time to come on over.

Normally on a hunt like that -- if it's not pouring down rain -- I am positioned in my stand at least an hour before it gets light and I leave my stand well after dark.  The only thing that gets me off of my stand is if I shoot a buck or the weather turns downright ugly.  I then get to wherever it is I'm staying for the night and take a hot shower, eat some supper and crash.  Then it's up at 3:30 a.m. the next morning to do it all over again.  When you only have 8 or 9 days to hunt I try to spend every second in the woods, especially when you're spending hard-earned money on tags, gas, food, etc.  Hopefully, we'll be able to find some time to mingle.  LOL!

Take care and Good Hunting!

No problems Steve. We'll find something, even if it a call to see how you are doing. Internet at my place is non-exsistent. Smoke signals on the other had now, might be doable.  LOL  I'll have to look at my calendar and see when the full hits this yr. Last I think was on or about the 26-28 of Oct. When that hits, I'll be in for the day, or go out about 8 and sit until dark. I have found that those first several hrs after daylight during a full, are quiet time. I have seen way too many bucks cruising from 10am-2pm during a full than any other time of the day.
