I sent that to me outfitter friend up in Maine and this is his reply, "now ya know why we give you a rope to bring with ya...it's not to pull your stuff up into the stand with....it's so you can: 1. side down  the tree with in an emergency, or 2. rope the bear and lower him down, or 3. so the bear can lower you down to the ground 'cause he doesn't like broken bones in his food...."!
