Primo's Scarface Decoy

With the rut in my area hitting full bore this last week, I decided to add a new decoy to my arsenal of tricks. I set up "Scarface" about 70yds out to my right in some med height grass on the edge of my foodplot. I have used both the Renzo's and Montanna decoys before and only had deer stomp their hooves and run off. This last Sat morning was a bit of a diff story. We had morning fog and temps were aorund 48 deg. As the sun was coming up, the fog would roll in and out every several min's which made for a great morning in my mind. Anyways, just as it was getting light, I decided to start my rattling and calling sequences. I had gone through several of them by 7:30am and had just put the horns down when I see this head pop up about 60yds to my front out of the river bottom. I looked through the bino's and saw some small horns. I was hoping it was that hayhook spike I had been wanting to get out before the breeding started but as he turned to look at scarface, I noticed the forks. He saw the decoy and started to walk, stomping his hooves with every step he took. His ears went back as he got closer and then it was on. Grunting and snorting for min's until he was right on top of the decoy. The posture of that little deer, even though 'ol scarface had larger horns, this little guy thought he was king of the hill. He wacked scarface one time and then bolted. Scarface stood his ground and did not fall over. It was cool to watch the little guy assert what he thought was dominance only to run off. This took place over about 10 min's I guess. I had a great time watching this happen. I will be using scarface alot more in the future in my bag of tricks.
