Nodak Sheep license - Monday, February 28, 2011 3:49 PM ( #1 )
Ennybuddy with a spare $40K that's merely lyin' around with nuthin' for which to do might wanna consider bein' in The Cities (well, Bloomington, actually) this weekend ... the Midwest Chapter of the Wild Sheep Foundation is havin' their banquet/auction, and the annual Nodak tag is up for bids ... usually it averages about $35K, which is a real bargain, compared to the prices sum folks pay for Montana or Alberta and such ...

Merely FYI, in case y'all wuz wantin' sumthin' to do for the weekend ...

(No, I won't be there ... goin' on the 18th for WCHA Final Five hockey tournament ... so, gotta stay home this weekend ... )

Turned out that $40K wouldn't have done the trick this year ... went for $41K ... that's @ or near the top price ever paid for a Nodak tag ...

The year my BIL had his, the buyer paid $35K & wuz from CA, he wuz werkin' on his second Slam, and havin' full-body mounts done with 'em ... he wuz quite satisfied with the bulk and mass of his ram's horns, and talked up the quality of a Nodak hunt afterwards ... prolly the reason folks keep buyin' 'em ... good hunt, and cheap compared to many other places ...

Yup ... it'll never happen for me, unless I'd win the lottery ... and since we allus fergit to buy a ticket, y'all can surmise my chances of ever buyin' a tag ... @ ANY price ... gotta wait for the lucky draw to catch up with me ... if I live that long ...
