Hello to everyone,...

My name is Terry Webster and I just finished registering to your site. I'm  a LONG time hunter and fisherman of some 40+ years. I enjoy going out West every other fall predominantly for Wapiti. I've been in Montana and Idaho and am trying for Wyoming in 2009 depending on if I draw a tag or not. I'm a Michigan resident and have been one for most of my life. I'm currently living in Northeast lower Michigan just outside of Alpena. I've got a farm of 80 acres & horses. I'm married to a wonderful woman who supports my hunting and fishing endeavors which I'm forever thankful for. We've got 2 kids,... Matt is the oldest and is currently serving in the US Navy as a "Nuke". Allison is in her first year of college and still living at home. (when she's not running around with her boyfriend anyhow)

During the spring, summer, and fall I also enjoy trolling for Salmon, Steelies & Browns. I own a 27 ft. SeaRay cruiser that's all set up for big water 12 rod n' reels with 4 downriggers, planner board setups, and I also use lead-core rigs. I'm also a handloader,... been doing that for about 23 years now. I reload for everything I shoot. My 7 Mag, .300 UltraMag, 30-06, 6.5 Swiss, 8mm Mauser, .303 British, .44 Magnum (S&W #629) and 9mm. I've quit doing the 9mm as the price to purchase them in large quantities works out about even so those dies haven't been utilized in about 4 years now. I enjoy working on rifles and handguns also as a part time gunsmith.
I also partake in archery,.. actually that is the 1st hunting sport I ever participated in started doing it seriously at the age of 12. I'm currently shooting a Pearson Diamondback compound set to 65 lbs using Goldtip carbon shafts and Montec G5's to hunt with.

Dang,.. I forgot to include that bear (any of them) is the one critter that I've never had the chance or oppourtunity to partake in.  In Michigan they have this crazy point system as we do for elk. I gave up on the bear system here,.. and am just about to give up on the elk. I've put in for the elk lotto here since its conception (1986 if I remember correctly) and STILL have not been drawn for an elk hunt here at home!  )

7mm Magnum (Terry):

Awesome post!  Thanks for sharing and welcome to our site!

Best of luck with the Wyoming tag system.

I see that you live in Michigan.  I'm also an honorary "Yooper" as I was born, raised and lived for 32 years in north central Wisconsin where you say, "eh", "ya, you betcha" and "ya, you got that right!" a lot.  I also know every word to the song, "Da Tirdy Point Buck".  When I moved to Springfield, Missouri in 2000 and met my wife she said that I talked "funny".    And, since living in Missouri for the past 7 and a half years I've picked up the accent from down here so now when I call back home to Wisconsin my family tells me that I talk "funny" to THEM.  A guy can't win for tryin'!

Best of luck with the Free Bear Hunt.  We are very excited to be able to give that hunt away to one of our Talk Forum Members!  Remember you need at least 10 posts to qualify for the hunt.  Be sure to share your expertise in the Reloading, Bowhunting and Fishing Forums as well.

Thanks again!

Take care and Good Hunting!

Best Afield,

Steve

Looks to be a FINE website,.. I'm still roamin' around looking at the various threads.

7MM, need to start checking into minnehaha for your bear hunts.  found one thats 800 plus tag($201).  already sent in the deposit, and the application for the draw is due in april.  they do the draw in may.  will let you know what happens.  also, checked into a couple places in maine.  pretty reasonable also.  995 plus tag and food for one.  or 1695 plus tag all inclusive for the other.  the minnehaha hunt also includes a non hunter at no additional cost.  so if I get drawn, going to bring the wife to film this one too.  good to see you here on this board too.  especially since it works.

Terry,

I assume you are from Michigan?  What part?  I used to live in the Grand Rapids area, in Caledonia.

Hmmmmm,.. I just got done writing a bit in reply when a little pop-up bar turned on and I clicked on it to allow temporary pop-ups and everything I wrote disappeared!!

Anyhow,... Yep I live in Michigan. I live in a little township that is pretty much an Amish farming community. (No,.. I'm not Amish) It's name is OSSINEKE and it's about 15 miles south of ALPENA, MI.

I also put my cruiser in for big water fishing in the Thunder Bay Marina which is also located in Alpena. It makes it really nice to be able to live out of town but have it close enough for groceries, etc. and also be able to have excess to Lake Huron for some big water trolling.

Here's a picture of my Cruiser,.. it's a 27 ft. SeaRay

OK,... I tried 3 times to post a picture,...

I just purchased a 30 hp. Johnson that I'm going to use for a kicker to troll with. It will be much easier on the gas seeing the price just jumped the other day to $3.34 a gallon. This ol' girl's got a 100 gallon fuel tank in her for the 350 I/O. Just move that decimal point over to the right 2 places and that's what it would cost to filler' up !!

Nice boat Terry.  I'll have to come over and meet you one of these days when I'm up at my place in Kalkaska.  It looks like us NAHC Lifers are looking for other good sites to join and I think we've found one here!!!

Welcome over,... Isn't it pleasant to have a website that actually works like it's suppose to??

Hey if you ever plan on being in the neighborhood sometime let me know,... I always look forward to fishing. You live in Kalkaska huh,.. I lived in Charlevoix for about 11 years before moving to the sunrise side of the state.

The boat's still in shrink-wrap however,.. mother nature isn't being very nice this year.

Hopefully It WILL be nice come April.

Jim,... I'm pretty much targeting Coho, Chinook, Steelhead, & Browns but you always get your share of Lake Trout.

Not that there's anything wrong with Lakers,... but they are pretty much goods for the smoker.

I'll also target Walleye,... a little beer batter and the deep fryer,... and your talkin' some of the best eatin' fish out there!

There's  2 local fishing tournaments I always try to participate in,... The Michigan Brown Trout Festival & the Pepsi Super. Both run concurrently along with the "Ladies Only" Jack Daniels Tournament. They all run pretty much together form the 16th of July till about the 26th of July every year.

Lot's of FUN,.. and the marina is always packed with people. The daily weigh in's,.. and they also have a huge circus style tent where they have live bands playing pretty much every day off and on throughout the day.
