NY opener report
-
Tuesday, November 30, 2010 8:09 AM

Sorry for not posting sooner but I've been busy as heck. There were six of us in camp for opening day including Vern from the property next door. Vern scores early 7:30 am on a spike, his second deer ever and his second for the season. Jack an elderly gentleman (75) took a four point a couple of hours later in the same general area. I watched doe mill about all morning as did both Tom and Dennis. My brother Don (74) scored that afternoon on another big bodied six point. If you remember Don took a six point opening day down in North Carolina the week before and followed it up with another here in New York. That evening I had about two dozen Doe below my stand as they gathered waiting for dark to hit the food plots. Bullwinkle and the other bigger bucks we've seen were no shows. Plenty of shooting from the surrounding properties though. Sunday was apparently doe day, that's all we saw all day. Everyone headed home except for Don & I. We stayed to the bitter end in the hope that a big boy would show, to no avail. No hunting this past Thanksgiving weekend, everyone was to tied up with family. Heading North Friday night to give it another go. Maybe bullwinkle will have his guard down this weekend.
The freshest tracks still have feet in them.

Good luck with Bullwinkle. Post rut feeding frenzy should be kicking in soon.
