NODAK DEER TAGS

Tooken me sum help frum Steve and about nine attempts, but I made it back in!!!

OK ... germane to this "new" thread ... dunno if there's any plans pertinent to this FYI, but Nodak deer license applications are due on or before Wednesday, June 2nd ... online werks best, IMHO ...

Biggest news is that with the past two harsh winters, the #s are down big time ... a reduction overall of about 29,000 tags available ... NRs available tags are based on last year's # of licenses issued (two percent, I think?) so the actual # of NR tags shouldn't decline quite as much as the overall 20-25 percent drop in numbers ...

This sorta means that the odds have gone up for everybuddy, but I've never seen enuf applications to take ALL the tags in any first round ... so the licenses are there, tho the # of Buck tags will obviously be lower ... and about 90 percent of all first-round applications are for bucks ... so that means a lot of folks (both R & NR) will be NOT gettin' their buck tags this year ... such is life ...

Secondary biggest news is that there are NO "HERD REDUCTION EARLY SEASONS" in the werks, which is kinda good news for me, since I went to my ranchers last fall, and did not see EVEN ONE DEER in those areas where an early (September?) "herd reduction" season wuz held ...

Hey O!  How ya doing old buddy!  I'm going out to Wyoming, but not to my usual area this year due to the ML mulie hunt I have the end of October with TWELCH and his daughter in NM.  I will be heading for Region B south of Gillette about 9/27 or 9/28 to hunt with MNBOGBOY for two weeks.  Then I will be going up from there into sw ND with my dog for a week of pheasant hunting starting about 10/18.  After that I will be heading down for that ML hunt in sw NM and if I make it home about 11/8 or 11/9 I will probably be dead, LOL!  I hope that we might be able to get together this year while I'm out there!  Take care---MIKE

Hey, Top' ... GOOD to hear frum y'all ... I wuz sorta losticated without the forum available for all that time ... even considered phonin' y'all, but ... busybusybusy  y'know ...

Well ... so far, my fall is perty much open this year ... NOBUDDY in the family got a moose/elk/sheep tag this year! DANG! I really HATE it when that happens! But that means NO "big deal/special" huntin' weekends this year ... might pull a goat tag, but even those numbers are down, they about cut the number in half last fall, frum prior seasons, so I'm not overly optimistic, even with several Pref. Points to help ...

BUWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I won't look a gift tag in the mouth, and I'll be the first to admit that our clan has been WAY more than "merely lucky" on the draws for these OIL hunts ...

So ... Nodak fessunts open Oct. 9, but I'm sure y'all gnu that ... 

In lookin' @ the Nodak calendar, there's not a whole lot goin' on about then, that I know of ... except bird huntin' ... AND ... makin' a guess as to "company policy" about that time, I'd say we'll still be on 4x10hr days, which gives me Thursday thru Sunday for rest and recreation ... 

So ... we'll hafta see if sumthin' could/should werk out ... I'm thinkin' it looks perty likely, as of now ...
