NEW HUNTING SPOT - Monday, July 20, 2009 9:06 AM ( #1 )
Well think I have a new spot. Went with my wife to her Mary Kay awards meeting and her director said something about the deer eating their soybeans. Seeing an opening I said wait about 2 and a half months and I would kill a couple. The ladies husband said ok I just had to talk to the one other guy that hunts there. My wife does not think he meant it but she is going to check today and find out. I am just keeping my fingers crossedand if she is told yes then I am going this evening and setting out a camera.

I got somewhat the same thing Sat. Went to a diff part of Tx here to help a guy out with some hog problems. Had some come in but never presented any shots. We got to talking and I have worked in this area quite a bit and never saw many deer, well that all changed on Sat. I saw well over a hundred deer in a 5 mile square area. I got the invites from a couple of the locals to come over anytime for the bow season if I wanted to. Well, you don't have to ask me twice. I'm there. It was like running a gauntlet driving home at 3am Sun morning. Every corner, every hill had to be careful not to run into any.

Well she just left for her meeting if her director says ok then I am off. The only hunting I will do there is bow, I would rather shotgun hunt around the house. When we where over there saturday we seen 15 deer right before dusk. They were in the beans feeding. The ladies husband said he would if I shared the meat. No big deal especially if I can shoot 4 or 5.

I have had 2 or 3 similar situations that never came to fruition.  I really hope you get to hunt these fields and fill your freezer!!!  Good luck buddy!

Dont you love getting a new place to hunt the excitement of whats over the next hill, wonder whats around the next bend. First thing I do is get me an aerial photo map. That way I can scout at the table at night. If i see something that looks good then go check it out. Then start making plans. If someone else is on property Have plan A and plan B . Good job wk71 season is just around the corner.

Congrats on the new hunting area!  I'm sure you'll be able to work something out with the other guy.  Besides, it actually comes down to what the landowner says.  But, at least you're more than considerate about the other hunter being there first.
I kinda stepped into some land if I follow-up on it..  Wife & I were at a nearby nursery & the owner was saying something about the deer on her property.  Well, I let it slip...I offered to kill a couple with the bow if she didn't mind..'bought fell over when she said yes!  Just got to get back over there & confirm everything with her.
  I know, I know...what am I waiting for??

good luck! You already have had some by coming across this land. Scout smart and show us a picture!
