I hope that shoulder of yours is ready for it brother. If not, I'm sure you could find someone to help fill your tag. "Hint,Hint"  LOL Cya in the woods Steve.

Gary:

The shoulder is coming along, but not back to 100%.  I am not even going to attempt to shoot until August.  I still have some pain when I move my arm in certain directions.  However, the pain is nowhere near what it was a few months ago.  Man, at times, it felt like someone was repeatedly stabbing me with a huge butcher knife on the top portion of the backside of my shoulder.  It was not pleasant.  I have full range of motion in the shoulder and I am pleased with its recovery so far.  There are only a few spots where I feel a little discomfort, but I am hoping that will soon pass.  It's been frustrating to say the least.

I hear you about the tags.  I had to eat a $400.00 Kansas tag last year because of the shoulder, and missed out on several other hunts.

Take care and Good Hunting!

Glad the shoulder is getting better!!!  Do not push it.  drop your poundage at first then work back up over the month of Aug.

Agreed, and in the infamous words of the "Nuge" a 50lb bow will kill em just fine".  LOL

Dave & Gary:

Thanks much!  I appreciate it!

Gary: I hear ya, but I have this stubborn side that is completely overpowering; I'm helpless.  LOL!  It just would not feel right shooting 50 pounds.  I don't know, we'll see what happens.  I may have to lower the poundage, but my bow absolutely shoots tacks the way I have it set up, and Easton just sent me 2 dozen 2317 XX78 Super Slams!  If I lower the poundage those new Super Slams will be way too heavy.

My wife just bought a Total Gym a few months ago and that thing is AWESOME!!  Not only are you able to work your muscles out, but the cable configuration stretches your ligaments and tendons while you work out.  I love it!

I'm hoping to start shooting by the middle to latter part of August.  My bow fingers are crossed!

Take care and Good Hunting!

Steve...if you are worried about the accuracy of your bow setup be affected....work that machine first and get your arm back THEN and ONLY THEN....start shooting!  Do not let your stubborn side hurt your hunting future!

Re:Missouri Bow Season 2010! - Thursday, June 10, 2010 11:48 PM ( #8 )
Dave:

Good advice, bud!  That is my plan.  I am stubborn in the fact that I don't want to turn my bow down, because honestly, it just won't feel "right" shooting less weight and I already asked for, and just received (today), 2 dozen brand new XX78 2317 Super Slams from my good friends at Easton.  It's not a "macho thing".  It's more of a: "I-am-intimately-used-to-this-and-do-not-want-to-change-thing", if you know what I mean?

As far as pushing it too fast -- I'm stubborn, but not stupid.    Well, never mind...  LOL!  Don't worry, I have been babying my shoulder at all costs.  I do not want to end up undergoing surgery, or worse yet, not being able to bow hunt ever again.  You could dig a hole and throw me in if that ever happened.

I sat out much of the fall of '09 and all of '08 due to shoulder problems.  I really messed them up when I was working in a -22 freezer doing mindless, repetitive bull work.  Oh am I glad those days are O-V-E-R.  One day I literally could not make it out of bed in the morning to simply walk to the bathroom without experiencing extreme pain and discomfort in my entire body.  That is the day I told my wife I was done!  I put in my resignation, gave them 2 months to fill my position, and hit the door running, well, limping!  Best decision I've ever made.

Thanks again, Dave.

Take care and Good Hunting!

Steve

I agree Steve.  After 10 years in the corporate rat race, working for people who gave a S&*T about you when something went wrong that might make them look bad, I am glad I am OUT!!!  I may make considerably less being a cameraman for an outdoor show, but the only stress I am gonna have is if the bear is climbing the tree I am in!  LOL!

As long as your stand is higher than your hunters, you have nothing to worry about and remember, always pick a hunter you can outrun.  LMAO!!!!!!!!

Dave:

I hear ya!  I worked my butt off at that place for nearly 7 years, and never once, I repeat, NEVER ONCE, took an official vacation.  STUUUUUUUUPID!!  Yet the head honchos only cared about their production levels or who was willing to kiss butt!  Butt flavor is not, and never will be, familiar or a favorite of mine.  Well, that didn't sit well with the bone-headed, narcissistic uppity-ups, so since I was falling apart physically and was not willing to play their "good old boy" game, I knew I had no real future there.  Sometimes quitting something is the best thing that a person can do at the time.

I hope everything works out for you.  Keep us informed where you're going and how things turn out.

Take care and Good Hunting!

Todd:

Good luck on your hunt!

My shoulder is healing and I should be able to hunt this fall.  I will be hunting Missouri on and off during September and October, but from November 1st through November 14th I plan to hunt every day.

I won't hunt during the gun season, but I am seriously considering hunting the muzzleloader season this year, if I can work out a deal with a particular muzzleoader manufacturing company.

Let me know what you have in mind.

Take care and Good Hunting!
