Yep, everyone in the southern zone will be able to use one in the 10/1---11/14 season and you have to be 50 or older in the rest of the state. I feel the age restriction is dumb, but they said they want to do a 3 year study and felt there were plenty of deer down here to allow everyone to use them, but not up north. I don't think their use will have any real impact on deer numbers and look for them to open it up for the entire state eventually. I don't have anything against crossbows, but don't ever plan on using one myself!

Me neither. I bought one for my wife since she has the shoulder issues, but will not allow myself to use it. Maybe for hogs down here but that would be it. To dam expensive for the bolts. LOL The 3yr study is a waste of taxpayers money as far as I am concerned. The age thing is also dumb. In Wi. you can not use one unless you're are upper body restricted and or over the age of 65. Ever try cocking one of those 175lb bows? They are a sob even at my young age of 48 without the help of a cocking aid. Can't imagine what the 200lb'ers are like to cock. Why is my question. Only thing I can think of is because they are so loud when shot.

if you look at the rules though it states that you have to wear hunter orange when using a cross bow. i called and as it stands now a cross bow does not fall under the term bow and arrow under state law which they are trying to change, so unless they change it get your hunter orange out. that includes archery deer season.

Well, I'm glad they are allowing them, but don't like the hunter orange provision...........
Old Cowboys never die, they just keep riding the Range.
