RE: Lone Wolf Tree Stands - Wednesday, August 12, 2009 3:03 PM ( #22 )
I bought a case of the screw in steps a few yrs ago to save on sticks and be able to move and take my stands down with ease. After the first half a doz trees I put them in, the stayed in the box. I use one now and then to hang stuff on while in the tree but they wopped my a$$ and won't EVER go back to them.  LOL And by the way, those little adapters to help you screw them in for the drill are worthless. They break after the first or second step into a hardwood tree.

Over the years, I bought at least two or three cases of those damn things and I put up many, many -- too many to count -- stands with them, and it would literally wear me and my shoulders out by the end of the season.

I could tell the checkout clerk at Wal-Mart thought I was insane for buying that many steps, and trust me, she wasn't too far off of the mark!  I'll never use them again unless I absolutely have to for some unforeseen reason.

Take care and Good Hunting!

Glad I'm not the only one with a bunch of unused "steps!"  Used to buy a bunch when they went on sale.  Came time to use 'em, what a pain.  Got spolied by the climbing sticks!  Still have the steps, just in case!

Haven't tried a Wolf stand yet, may purchase one this year.
Remember if you want to see big ones next year, let the small ones walk this year.

Those screw in steps also make for good grab handles when climbing into your new "LONE WOLF TREE STAND".

I agree Gary. I usually use one or two at most at the top to grab and get into the stand with. It lets you put your stand just another foot or two higher and max out the sticks. Then I use them to hang my backpack or other "junk" on.

I got my Alpha Hang on Steve, now just got to get enough guts to hang it and "TRY" not to worry about it getting stolen.  I think I will take my sticks in and out. They are not that heavy, but are heavier than my wallet right now.   LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Steve,
I had 2 of my ladder stands lockewd to trees and they cut the tree down. Also had some of my Gorilla's locked and they took the dam sticks and left the stand. Go figure. Had both of them stolen, sticks and stand before and that was on my own property. I trust nobody anymore, not even family. Well except for my dad and uncle that is.  LOL

I know what you mean.  I'm sorry to hear about your stands getting stolen.

Man, that is LOW!  I detest criminals with every fiber of my being!  I really hate to say this, but I honestly believe that we as a society should resort to chopping off the hands of thieves.  First, it would identify a thief as a thief, and secondly, it just may deter others from stealing.

Hopefully, you'll be able to keep your new Alpha and the sticks for many years.  I just got mine by FedEx this morning!  The stands and the sticks are going with me to Manitoba where I'll start out hunting black bear and then I will head over to Monty's farm and chase some big whitetails around for a week or so.

Take care and Good Hunting!

There is nothing worse than looking forward to hunting a stand, doing all the pre-stuff to get ready to hunt, then walk up and find your stand "NOT" there. It kind of takes all the wind out of your sails that day and for a few days to come. I hate thieves with every once also. I would have no problems swinging the axe.
