Learn to hunt bear program - Thursday, April 16, 2009 3:16 PM ( #1 )
From an article published for Wisconsin hunters.

Wisconsin ‘Learn To Bear Hunt’ Program Set 4/15/2009

Live in Wisconsin and dream of hunting bears? Better clear some time in your schedule this summer. The state Department of Natural Resources will be holding a “Learn to Bear Hunt” program on August 28-30; those interested in attending have until May 30 to file an application. The drawing for spots will be held June 10.

The program is open to anyone with two years or less experience hunting bears. Young hunters are encouraged to apply.

Program participants will learn bear habits and behavior, hunting ethics, effective hunting techniques, and safe firearm use, from a team of mentors.

The program is also looking for bear-hunting mentors to provide program leadership. Mentors must be certified; to apply for certification, prospective mentors must fill out an application and turn it in to a local wildlife official.

For more info on the Learn to Hunt program, contact Ben Mott, LTH coordinator, at (608) 444-1244, or Todd Schaller, DNR program manager, at (608) 267-2774.

Interesting...

If the program is geared toward helping people become better hunters in general and specifically better bear hunters then I am all for it.

However, if the program is nothing more than a money-maker for the DNR then I am not for it at all.

Take care and Good Hunting!

Best Afield,

Steve
