I hit the tree around 4:00. It was 35 deg. with very little wind. From my tree I can see 2 very large fields on each side of a wooded funnel between them. Where my stand is. At 5:00 I seen 28 Antelope feeding along in one of the fields. 3 bucks in the bunch. Watched them for about an hr. I didn't see any deer until about 1/2 hr. of dark. They started filtering into the fields which were 200 yds. away from me. I was watching 2 pretty nice bucks when I heard something below me. OOPPPPS. Got caught loligaging. It was a group of does which is what I was mainly after. There was one already past me and in my shooting area. They caught me good. On my behalf the woods were silent from all the snow we have been getting. Well apparently I wasn't as silent as they were. They didn't spook too bad but they slowly left. They never snorted so I don't think too much damage was done. I'm still going to move my stand back to the field where I had it when I shot the buck. That's where all the whitetails seemed to converge anyway. Altogether I seen 11 whitetails with 4 bucks. One bigger than the one I shot. 3 Mule deer with one 1/2 decent buck. 4x4 I think. And 28 goats, 3 bucks but nothing too big. High of 25 today. Hopefully no wind. That field stand can be a little chilly. If that big Witey comes out it may be hard to restrain myself. I want to save my tag for eastern Mot. when my dad comes out. But I'm not very good at passing up big bucks. As a matter of fact I've never done it before. I'll try to save that buck for the Queen in rifle season.

Sounds like you got a pretty hot stand site ther Deadeye. I hear ya on having troubles passing a buck. I had a little one come in a couple of years ago under my stand, I had a ground blind set up for my wife about 70 yds down the creek. I kept thinkning to myself, "let him walk, the wife will get that one, she'll be tickled pink with this one". The whole time I was on autopilot and before I knew I was at full draw. Luckily I caught some movement to my left and out stepped the buck in the picture to the left. Wife never did see the littler buck though. Oh well, I did let one walk away though.......... sort of. How about sending me some of that weather. I'm heading back out tomorrow and it looks like I've got a high of 90 and overnight lows of 70. We'll see what happens I guess. Last weekend for this piece of property and then back to scouting some more swamps. Good luck on the fields Deadeye. I'm sure it's just a matter of time.

Well I got the stand switched. Bout froze my pituty off. 22 deg. out with a slight wind. At the parking spot there was a flock of about 10 turkey. One big longbeard. Those are the first turkey I've seen there. Plus I must have seen 30 Sharptail grouse. My dog was running around like an idiot. This cold weather must have them hanging out on the field edges. Wish I had another stand. When I went in to take the stand out there were tracks all over. Wish I knew what I was doing. This blue face will also work to represent me when I come back in tonight. LOL I think I will go to the tree at 5:00 instead of 4:00 tonight.

Seen about 15 turkey on the way in and jumped 4 baldies out from under my tree when I got there. That was all I seen. What a difference a day makes.
