Thought this was an interesting story.......

New Turkey-Hunting Tactic: Dress Like A Mailman?

4/16/2009

These days mail carriers in Grand Haven, Michigan, are considering dog bites just a minor setback in comparison to a new, feathered threat. Over the past month, city mail carriers have been attacked by three male wild turkeys in one area of the Michigan city.

Carrier Jeremy Bogerd has experienced the turkey attacks first-hand, in the form of pecks to his leg. He called the male turkeys “super-aggressive,” in a report of the incidents by Outdoor News.

Bogerd reports that the estimated 20-pound turkeys have taken to gathering around the mail trucks, and chasing them through the neighborhood.

"As soon as they see us, they're after us,'' he told the Grand Haven Tribune. “They're not afraid of humans. They'll chase you as soon as they see the truck. I would rather get attacked by a dog sometimes than these turkeys.''

Postmaster Barb Kiehborth has had reports of the turkeys chasing four mail carriers in the area, but no one is sure why the turkeys are on the attack in this particular neighborhood.

Maybe the DNR or G&F are mailing out the turkey permits this year and the Turkey's caught wind of it....LOL

LOL That's funny Mneptune. Those turkeys finally figured it out. Take out the messenger delivering their death sentences. That's good stuff.

I need to find one of these birds while I'm hunting in the woods.
The freshest tracks still have feet in them.
