Just joined the UOA and even though I'm an old dog, I'm looking forward to learning some new tricks from the pros. I want to thank Topgun for the joining info. I live in WA and at the moment I'm passing the time until spring turkey opens by doing as much ice fishing as possible. Since I've been a member for only 30 minutes or less, I haven't had a chance to see if the site is devoted to just hunting or if it also includes fishing info. I'm into both, so I'm really looking forward to learning new things!

Jim, I live in Issaquah, WA which is about 17 miles east of Seattle on I-90. My wife has a cousin and his family that live in Snohomish. Good luck in MN and let me know if you head this way. Anyone in your Snohomish family enjoy F&H? Bob

Thanks Mike and again, thanks for the site info. I think this looks a lot better than the NAHC site. Bob

Hi guys (and gals, if any ever show up here) ...

Signed up a few minutes ago, sorta followed a trail of breadcrumbs dropped by a couple of others here ... looks like a LOT friendlier site than one I could mention, so that's why I'm here ... if I'm gonna spend time on the 'net talkin' about hunting/fishin' ... I'd rather it be spent hangin' around folks who want to enjoy the experience, rather than argue about it ...

Been a hunter almost all my life, and I fish when I can ... only once (on two separate trips) have I ever hunted outside Nodak, fall of '07 my son talked me into elk/deer in Montana ... had a great time ... otherwise, it's been all Nodak ...

I've managed to bag/tag not quite all of the big game animals in the state, only hit on one of the Big Three (Moose/Elk/Sheep -- once-in-a-lifetime), but my spouse, daughter, cousins, brother-in-law and father-in-law have filled those voids ... so ... it's been a fun time so far, and last fall I helped one of my grandsons bag his first Rooster, and took my oldest granddaughter on her first deer hunt ... and spring turkey season license deadline is right around the corner, with one or more grandkids planning on that adventure ...

I'm lookin' forward to reading some quality conversation on the subjects, and might even have a comment or two that might be worthwhile ... if I'm lucky ...

Denali/Jim ... hope your MN outing werks well ... this year will be the first time in about seven years, for me, to possibly take advantage of the Northern Run @ one of the best bays on the big lake ... (I've been werkin' on the road ... not any more ... )

Lazy man's style of fishin' ... but I managed to haul in a 15# Jack while fishin' offa one of the prime points, and I've seen 20-25# fish dragged in less than 50 feet away ... and a lot of 5-10# fish are taken ... once I learnt how to do a boneless filet on Northerns, it all got to be even more fun ...

Problem is catchin' the proper time of ice-out, and bein' able to get there early enuf for a spot, but sometimes it's merely as easy as tossin' out the smelt, and stayin' warm in the vehicle until your bobber starts to move (I said it wuz the lazy way!) ... then muscle 'em into the beach or a net ...
