I wuz gettin' a bit worried ...

about Topgun ... tried his phone and the first time got v-mail ... NBD ... next couple of times got the basic 404-type ... "We are not able to complete your call ... "

Started thinkin' he'd either had sumthin' go worng on the trip (or werse), or had lost his phone ... so ... this a.m. (after a brief effort to capture a turkey -- 40 yards, but too many trees in the way for a decent shot ... ) I tried again and finally got his v-mail again ... so ... I'm droppin' back frum the Orange Alert status and thinkin' he's merely got a new phone or mebbe is too busy shootin' AT fessunts ...

With all of the above naggin' @ my mind and the PF banquet tonite, I'm perty sure our "meet-and-hunt" session is not gonna happen ... not enuf time to plan, and MANY chores to do around the house that hafta be done before winter sets in ... 

Mebbe next time, and I'm hopin' everythin' is OK on his end of the trail ...

HOWever ... there wuz a THIRD possibility which I had not even thunk of ... 

Top' is in an area with ROTTEN cell service ... AND ... he called me last nite while I wuz in the midst of the PF banquet, and we had a good talk ... TONS of birds, but public land hit hard and all the rest posted, so success has not been numerous for him & his partners ... also, his pup is havin' problems ... and he had a BAD experience on the goat hunt ... but I'll let him tell the rest of it all when he gets back home ...

Heck, his phone won't even let him leave a message for his wife, or mostly won't let him hear her messages ... but he's OK ...

On the PF drawing ... neither wey' nor Top' were winners ... NONE of the tix I sold this year were drawn, despite better odds ... only about a bit more than half of the tix sold, so odds wuz better ... HOWever (again, already) the market area of winners is spreadin' out ... one frum Minnesnowta, one frum ... um ... Idaho? ... one frum Ohio ... and the Nodak ones weren't ALL locals, for a change ... hafta try again next year ...

Thus ends the worry session on Top' ... he's headed for NM on Monday, and won't be back home until about the second week of November ... lotsa huntin' in his future ...
