Hunting Shows These Days

Who here is as tired as I am of the husband and wife team hunting shows that are literally permeating the Outdoor Channels these days? Let's face the facts, these guys are basically pimping out their wives in order to boost ratings. And, the sad fact is that you get about 15 minutes of face time as in "look at me, look at me" or "watch me do something silly and stupid" that THEY think is entertaining and about 3 minutes of actual hunting footage followed by 12 minutes of commercials. There is virtually no mention of how they got set up on the deer, bear, elk, etc., or hardly any, if at all, footage of scouting preparations, tree stand hanging, choosing the route they used to get to their stands, why they are hunting a particular stand, etc, etc, etc. I'm sorry I guess I'm getting tired of all the B.S. that goes along with hunting shows these days. I can't wait for the season to start!!!

Orion, I have to agree with you on the way many of these shows are being laid out. I have all but stopped watching most of those type shows. Yes the ladies can shoot, yes the ladies look nice in their camo/t-shirt/bikini/shorts/etc., yes I am jealous of some of the animals they harvest. But playing devil's advocate...the reason that there ARE so many of those type shows is because people are watching them. Hunting shows are almost more business than hunting nowadays. Sex sells even in the hunting world. As long as there is someone in a tree/blind/boat or shooting house with someone filming them...we will continue to watch. I do wish that they would discuss more of the prep and setup than just the big animal walking up in the "XYZ" food plot they planted and the harvest of said animal.
Love playing that string music and sending a Muzzy flying!

Bowman:
I don't mind seeing big trophy-class animals on the screen; that's one of the main reasons why I watch the ODC in the first place, but the over-the-top stupidity is mind numbing and hard to swallow! The endless drivel about nothing important or relevant to anything in particular is what drives me crazy. If they would take those moments of blatant stupidity and use them for showing the scouting preparation, the set-up of the hunt, the overall HUNTING EXPERIENCE itself as a whole then I wouldn't have such a problem watching those shows, and maybe just maybe the younger generation -- beginning hunters -- might actually learn something from watching.
I wish the trend would change, but I guess I'll keep wishing.

I got to agree.
It was one thing when it was just a couple of husband/wife teams. Now that's all that seems to be on.
And yes, the shows would be better if they would cut out all the BS and actually show the prep. on how many days
it actually took to harvest that animal.
Still though, my fav shows are still Eastman's hunting and Easton bowhunting. Real down to earth shows that have everything that means something to the sport.(set-up, prep, stalk, kill= sometimes)
That's just my thoughts on the matter
Hunt Hard, Hunt Safe and enjoy what you got in life

Hey Denali take a pill and calm down for goodness sakes. We're not talking about your wife! Are you telling us that Tiffany Lakosky squawking on about the stupid things that she squawks on and on about on a weekly basis is going to get more women to hunt and is good for the sport of hunting? And, if you think that she is on the screen to generate more interest from women and get more women interested in hunting you're nuts! It's all about the "T and A" factor. It's about getting more MEN to watch! Getting more women interested in hunting is the least of their priorities. How many women, except for Tiffany, do you see on their shows? Hmm... If the priority was getting more women involved in hunting don't you think they would have more women hunting on their show? I caught five minutes of her new show entitled, "The Crush" (I have no idea what "a crush" has to do with hunting) and nearly fell off of my chair as over 5 minutes of the show was dedicated to her hubby Lee's ineptness when it comes to washing dishes in the dishwasher! Also, I've seen her spew on about Britney Spears and how "she's pregnant again" on their other show, Gettin' Close. Tell me how that is good for the sport of hunting whether a good-looking girl or as you put it an "ugly" girl is doing the squawking? I'm sorry... I'm just TIRED of all the "B.B.D.", "That deer is on my Hit List," and "I just smoked that buck!," and "Gimme a second!" bullcrap. There is no respect shown for the animals, and I don't care who you are, man or woman, that is not good for the sport of hunting! And, for your information, I don't watch these shows. I turn the channel.

I watch every one of those shows and other than thinking Tiffany is hot, I don't watch them for sex. I watch them for all those big friggin bucks they grow on their properties and wish I had access to enough land to do what they do. If they start the shows with the gals in the shower before they go out on the hunt, then I will say they are selling sex. Until then I agree with Jim 100%. If you aren't excited about the hunt and taking deer like they do then you should take up knitting! The only person that really grinds me is Stan Potts and his "Give me a second!". That to me is bad acting, whether it is acting or not. It was funny that on the show I was watching last night with Bob Foulkrod he sort of mocked old Stan about that! I think some of them do get a little carried away, like all the hassling back and forth that Ralph and Vicky engage in, but it's good clean fun that I would have no problem letting my kids watch. There aren't many shows on regular TV nowadays that I can say that!

Denali: So the point of their show is not about hunting, it's about their everyday lives? So then what is the show doing on THE OUTDOOR (as in HUNTING) CHANNEL?? I don't care what they do in their everyday lives. So you do care? Also, I didn't say that EVERY SINGLE husband and wife show is the same. I do like Archer's Choice and The Choice. As for the others I'm not a big fan. And, take your own advice. You lumped them all together. If you go back and look at my original post I never mentioned that ALL of them are the same. And, I do feel that all the B.B.D., I just smoked that buck, that deer is on my Hit List, Gimme a second crap is disrespectful to the animals. If you don't feel that way you're kidding yourself, and following a trend of stupidity rather than thinking for yourself. Think back to high school and all of the things you thought were cool back then because the cool kids or the privileged kids (like those who get to hunt for a living) were doing the things that were thought to be cool. I bet your opinion has changed since then. Topgun You just proved my point in your first sentence: I watch every one of those shows and other than thinking Tiffany is hot, I don't watch them for sex. The mere fact that you think "Tiffany is hot" is an indication that sex sells. So, is she "hot" in a NONSEXUAL way or what? C'mon, guys! Stop thinking with your southern heads and start thinking with your northern heads and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Hey, I am not gonna call anyone out here. I must admit I watch all the shows. But, what I think is sexy here in SC is below (I hope)...

Denali, just what i intended. And in case anyone wonders, we do get snow in SC from time to time. I can appreciate Orion's stance, though. Some things are downright silly. Like I said, I still watch, but lucklily I have the remote in hand and have some choices to go with it! I noticed your signature early on too. See, that was a lesson for me, I didn't know that was in Psalms.

I hope that Potts is genuine when he comes out with that most of the time after he has shot something! Also, Raglin is a hoot with that constant laughing of his. It gets to me a little also, but not enough to prevent watching the show. Boy, just because I said I think Tiffany is hot makes me a sex addict, huh? Jim, whether it does or not, you give her a big smooch or hug for me if she'll allow it and definitely get a picture of the two of you to share on here with us!!! I'll look at it and the "other member" can skip it if he wishes

I think that I would have to say I enjoy Jody Clark from Higher Ground outdoors more. LOL Not that Tiffany is not good looking, but I think it has to do with the kinky hairdo.

For pure eye candy I would rather watch Jody Clark. Tiffany is good looking but I cannot stand her voice for very long. If I want to actually learn something, Vicki Cianciarulo is someone that I would listen to. She and Ralph now do a lot of banter back and forth which gets a little annoying, but I primarily bow hunt so I could hang out with her. I have also found myself enjoying SHE Safari's Beyond the Lodge. The production is good and they are not entirely swamped with ads for multiple products. Dave

I can't recall the Driven TV show that you mention. Is it on the Outdoor Channel or something local out your way? Don't wait more than half the day to get close to Tiffany, LOL!!!

What I think is worse than having the women is the idiots that shoot a deer and say I just made a great shot. The bad part is they show them hitting it in the hind end of the animal. Whats up with that?
