How about smaller game?

Since I do not have a lot of places to shoot at this winter, one thing I was considering was bowhunting small game. Season opens soon here and I was hoping to get out for some bunnies and grouse with the bow. What kind of special type things do I need here. I could probably get the draw weight dropped, but I am afraid it will screw with my sights and accuracy that I have dialed in right now. I am shooting it at 71 lbs... can fluflu (sp?) arrows help with this? Certain tips over broadheads for birds and bunnies? I really don't want to lose a bunch of arrows either... LOL M

Anyone got any advice here? My elk season will be over in another two weeks... so I will need to hunt bunnies for a while.

mgoodman: You'll need to get some flu flu fletching on your arrows or without a doubt you will lose your arrows if you are shooting at flying birds. Don't bother messing with your draw weight as that should be fine. However, you may have to adjust your sights to compensate for the flu flu fletching as your arrows more than likely won't travel more than 50 yards with that type of feather. If you're strictly after bunnies don't change a thing with your arrows, leave them as they are right now. You might try using a Judo point also as it is relatively difficult to lose an arrow with these types of heads. The heads have blunts and springs on them to grab and catch vegetation. They have awesome knockdown power also. Best of luck! Take care and Good Hunting! Best Afield, Steve

I agree with Steve on the effectivness of the Judo points, they won't penetrate deepinto brush and undergrowth so your arrows are easier to find, but they are extremely devestating on small game. You may get them in various weights to match your usual points too. Good Luck, Steve Albers

When I was hunting in oregon we used to shoot alot of grouse with our bows, We used regular rubber blunts but bent up alot of aluminum arrows that way. I agree with Steve, we used those judo points and saved alot of arrows. And they absolutley destroyed the grouse. Good luck with the critter gettin' Mgoodman.

After losing 3 good arrows shooting bunnies in the back yard. I invested in Judo points. GREAT INVESTMENT only because it saves my expensive arrows. LOL!
Love playing that string music and sending a Muzzy flying!
