Hogs and Girls Weekend - Saturday, September 25, 2010 6:13 AM ( #1 )
Well, I'm off this weekend to take my wife and a friends of hers' daughter Emilie, for her first hunt. I'm gonna hope for the best of both worlds. One by getting the young girl out in the woods to enjoy what we all enjoy and secondly, to try and rid my one spot of a few hogs that have been tearing up my feeder. She is excited to be going and looking forward to it. I have pic's of the big boar coming in everyday around 9pm and then a sounder of 75-100lb ones coming in about 6am so we'll see what happens. Emilie was the flower girl at our wedding and had a crush on me at that time, 10yrs ago.  Maybe that's why she is so excited to go. LOL!!!!!!!! Getting the kids out and enjoying the outdoors is what we all need to do. They are our future and the future of all of our outdoor sports. I'll post pic's when and if I can after the hunts.

Re:Hogs and Girls Weekend - Saturday, September 25, 2010 9:40 PM ( #5 )
Well the rain quit about 4 or so so we headed to the woods. Got everyone all sprayed down with scent killer and down the trail we went. Got to the blind and got the girls all situated in thier seat. I went to the feeder to put up one of my little red led's for some after dark light so we would be able to see them as they got there. I was going to pull the card from my cam to make sure they were still coming in at the same time and low and behold, the som biatch stole another one. This is the second one some a$$hole has stolen from me at this spot. This one was locked in a lock box made for that cam. They bent the tabs out, to include the lock hasp and got the cam out and were nice enough to put it all back together to make it look like nothing had happened. I checked this one just last weekend too. Man I was furious. I think I know who it is now, since I caught a glimps of a truck through the woods as we were walking in.  Tomorrow, he will have a surprise visit, gun in hand. This is private property and for someone to just blatantly walk in and steal my shi-, not once but twice is asking for a can of woopa$$ to be opened. Anyways, we were sitting there and straight up 7pm, we saw the first animals. A family of coons. They sat and ate for about a half hr and then moved off, next came a cottontail, he fought the birds off from the corn. It was comical to watch. Bout 8:30 I caught movement under the feeder. I had Emilie get her gun ready as I did for backup and we both looked through the scope and got a bead. I turned on my Sniper Destroyer and lit them up only to find one of the biggest coons I have ever seen. This guy had to weigh in at 60lbs or better and stood bout 3ft tall when he got lit up with the light. We sat for another hr and called it a night. Nothing moving, no sounds of distant hogs anywhere and no deer either. I'm afraid the guy has things really screwed up there now. We'll give it another shot in the morning since we are here and then head for home. The sounder has been coming in in the mornings about 6am so with some luck, maybe we see them and Emilie can get a shot off at one.

Got to the stand bout 5:15 am and looked towards the feeder and thought things were a bit odd, beings I know where the feeder is in reference to the stand.  That sob was there overnight and stole that son of a biatch also. I can't frickin believe it. If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have none. I am getting with the landowner and giving it back, and asking for a refund for what I have spent and lost thus far. This is utter bs. I was so mad yesterday, that I was afraid my whole post would have been #@#@#@$#$#@$#@$#@$#@$#$#.

Wow Gary, That sucks. Too bad you didn't sit in your stand alittle longer. Wouldn't that be funny if he showed up with you covering the bait. Do ya feel lucky? Punk. Well do ya? Is it possible it is someone who can see where you park and knows when you come and go?

I know what you mean you cant leave anything out here it will get packed away. Last year i was going to show Shadow where he could hunt. Annnnnnd its around here somewhere, Got it watching these two trails. should be right over there but its not.
Same thing on the other farm had buckwhisperer check a stand was going to let Shadow hunt out of it he calls back NOT THERE. Lost 2 stands in one week. I hate thieves with a passion.

Man Gary, that really sucks. Hopefully you get the wing nut that stole yer stuff. he landowner probably know them and told themhe had leased to you. They could have seen that as an opportunity for some free shopping. They should be hung by the nads from a feeder tripod and let the hog have a crack at them. We've been fortunate here, nobody has messed with our stuff. If they do, they have to come in from private property to get to it.

I have a pretty good idea who it is, so it's all about catching him in the act now. Decoy cam is gonna do the trick I think.

Good luck, hope you catch the dirty dog. It would be great to have a tracking device built into a cam. When the cam come up missing just follow the signal back to it with the police of course lol

I can't believe how many guys on different BBs are having cameras, stands, and feeders stolen this year.  It's time somebody shoots one of the SOBs in the act and maybe a few of the others would have second thoughts about their thievery!

That spot was one of 2 I have in that area. It was about some of the thickest acreage I have ever been on with the exception of the small little opening in the middle of the place. I have my other spot about 10 miles from there that I still have.
