Hog Hunt - Thursday, June 24, 2010 12:57 PM ( #1 )
Just got back from a hunt down by Victoria,Tx. What a great hunt it was. The ranch was the Double L Ranch and "Pop" Lassman has some animals. He has got to have the biggest mass Blackbuck Antelopes I have ever seen. These guys have beer bottles for bases. He has some Fallows that are world class right now and have several more months before they get hard horned.   Anyways, I was on stand and just before dark had a group come in of about 15. They got to the feeder and all of a sudden it broke loose. There were hogs everywhere. It was a bit hard trying to pick out just one to send the meat missle into. Crack, my arrow found it's mark. The med sized hog ran off with my tracer nock just a blinking. While blood trailing my hog, I came across a baby whitetail fawn hiding all hunkered down in the tall grass. I almost stepped on it. It just layed there with it's head tucked into it's body and never moved. That was cool. After about 60 yds, I found my hog. The next morning pops took us out just at daylight. He put me in a stand and the first animals I had come walking up the road were the fallows. Man, they are beautiful. Next were a couple of Impalla's. They were ver impressive and would have made a nice mount.  LOL Then they turned and the hogs came down the road. I picked out the biggest boar and at 20 yds let my arrow fly. Crack, it found it's mark again. He also ran off but it was a short trail this time. While sitting on stand after the second hog, I had a couple of axis deer walk right underneith my stand. They are great looking animals as well. I sat for another hr and was covered up in whitetails of all sizes, from fawns to does to young and old bucks. What a morning it was. Here are some pics of his fallows.

Hey Txb, By any chance have you ever heard of the Yo ranch or the We-be-rocking ranch? I guess my cousins work at those ranches. They were in Africa on a hunting ranch but now they are home working on these ranches. I'm not sure though if they are in Tx or Ok. I think Tx.

Yes rik, I know of the YO fairly well. It is located in Kerrville,Tx. Not sure about the other one though. The YO is where uncle Ted hunts all the time when he is not hunting his own ranch there in Kerrville, The Spirit Wild Ranch. My wallet does not allow me to do anything but look at that place.  LMAO!!!!!!!
