actually took the time to look at the outfitters directory, and noticed something. very few, actually none of the ones I looked at, posted their prices for us. now they probably would rather talk to people to get them excited and get them to commit, but it's expensive to be calling canada or long distance all the time to check on prices. know this is not your doing, but maybe you could talk to them about posting prices to see if they are affordable to the every day "joe". thinking MAYBE doing a canada bear hunt next year, but hard to say with no prices posted. TLC: Good observation, but actually it is my doing for legal reasons. I do not post prices on the Outfitter Directory Listings due to the fact that my company could be sued if a price was posted on my web site and then the outfitter charged a different price to the hunter. Once you read the listing of a particular outfitter in the Outfitter Directory, simply click on the outfitter's web site link -- each outfitter has a link to their web site -- and you will be able to view prices on THEIR web site. (Once you click on the link another window will pop-up displaying the outfitter's own web site.) That way, the United Outfitters Association - FORAHUNT.com is not liable for "falsely" or inadvertently listed prices due to unforeseen adjustments to the cost of a hunt. For instance if you view this outfitter's description (Golden Triangle Whitetail): http://www.unitedoutfittersassociation.com/outfitter.cfm?coID=15084 It states: "For more information on available dates and price quotes go to the Golden Triangle Whitetail web site below." (This statement is on every outfitter listing in the Outfitter Directory Listings.) Then you simply click on the link to the outfitter's web site, locate the pricing page on their web site and you can see what that particular outfitter charges for their hunts. On the other hand, some outfitters choose not to list prices even on their own web sites, which I have no control over, but in that case you may write a simple E mail to the outfitter asking for pricing and available dates and any good outfitter will write you back. That way you wouldn't need to call the outfitter outright, saving you long distance charges. Hope this answers any questions or concerns that you may have. If not feel free to PM or E mail me. Take care and Good Hunting! Best Afield, Steve

Steve, the second part of your answer is what I was looking for. went to both the bear hunts that are listed in manitoba, and neither lists prices for the hunts. actually, tawow has a page for it, but when you go to it, it says contact them. not a biggie, just don't want to be getting a lot of stuff from someone that I might not be able to afford. thanks for looking at this.

if I ever hunt with Jeff again, will have to thats for sure. crazy SOB. go after piggies with a knife in his teeth. have lost some since the hog hunt, and will be down to the 220 mark by the end of the summer. usually where I end up after a year of work. goal is to maybe get back around the 210 mark and STAY there.

TLC/Todd: Not a problem. I've been to Tawow Lodge and it is an excellent hunt. If I can recall, the price is very reasonable as well. At the time the hunt was under *$2000.00 for a fully guided bear hunt over bait. This included your meals and your lodging. The meals are all home cooked and the food is out of this world, and you get plenty of it. The lodging is in very nice, clean and comfortable cabins. There are hot showers and a satellite dish for your enjoyment. The camp is owned and operated by Greg and Candyce Carswell. Candyce is the cook and she does a fantastic job. Greg is a very experienced bow hunter and has killed some very impressive animals with archery equipment. Todd, I'll PM you the prices for McKenzie Outfitters. You have to confirm those prices via E mail with Monty McKenzie, owner of McKenzie Outfitters to make certain they are current. Take care and Good Hunting! Best Afield, Steve *Prices subject to change without prior notice.

Steve, got emails from both you and Monty. thank you so much for the information. didn't mean to start anything. just like to see what prices are before I start bothering people about hunts. sooner or later, will go to canada and go for a big bear. again, thanks for the info on both of those outfitters. TLC/Todd: No worries, you didn't start anything. I was just explaining the legalities of running a web site. I hope I didn't sound harsh? If I came across that way I apologize. However, it's a very sad time in our history when a person has to watch everything he does or says in fear of falling victim to parasitic organizations -- I'm not naming anyone or any "organization" in particular, but I think you can read between the lines -- that are constantly on the lookout to make a quick dollar off of honest mistakes. Anyway, best of luck on your search for killing a big old blackie! Take care and Good Hunting! Best Afield, Steve
