Well I head out this Sat for Wyoming. I'm looking for land to buy to build on and while I'm there I plan on hunting antelope. I also will try to get in some time shooting prairie dogs. That is if the snow is not too deep. First time my wife has went on a hunting trip with me. I'm looking forward to having her with me on this trip. I will keep you posted on how it goes. See you when I get back. car

Because I'm nosey, LOL!!! I hunt Wyoming on the west side of the Big Horns every year and just wondered what area you were looking at. The area you are talking about is great with lots of deer and turkies. Good luck on the hunt and I hope you find your piece of heaven out there!!!

No I didn't mean it like that. I though maybe you had some land lined up that was for sale.

Top' ... I've got a pal from a different forum who lives in Sheridan ... he seems to know the area around the Big Horns fairly well (yes, he hunts) ... sounds as if I might hafta see about a tag-along idea some time in the future ... despite my negative attitude about Wyoming G&F behavior patterns in general ...

Kinda a long story, and perty ugly ... so I won't bring a "downer" item to this forum ... but when y'all arrive here, remind me and I'll tell you about one of their wardens, and whut he did to a NR hunter ...

Hi everbody. We are still in Wy. I shot my antelope on Tuesday evening. Not the biggest I've ever got but a nice one for this late in the season. The land search has went well too. Should get back to Ohio on Sunday night. The computer I'm on I can't resize my pictures looks like I'll have to wait untill I get back home.

I'm at work so I'll keep it short. On Tuesday I had a little time left in the day to go out and chase antelopes. My wife and I got out to the Prairie around 4:00. It was pretty windy but I wasn't going to let that stop me. We checked the place I normally go to and didn't see and goats. Plenty of mule deer doe, 23 in all. Most of the places we hunt is now walk in only. This really cut down on the amount of areas we could glass with the light fading fast. I check the last area I could before it would be to dark to hunt. We saw a group of 10-12 antelope just go over a hill and out of site. We got out of the truck and covered 500 yards as fast as we could. When we got to the top of the hill the wind was really kicking in. I had left the range finder in the truck, good move on my part, not. I guessed the range at 225 to 250 yards. It took another 15 minutes before I could get a clean shot. All of the antelope kept moving around with the wind blowing so hard. Finally I got a clear shot and took it. Dropped him in his tracks. It wasn't the biggest antelope I've ever shot but a nice one. Turns out I didn't see a bigger one the rest of the season which ended on Thursday. I did make it out to shoot prairie dogs. WOW is that fun!

ORIGINAL: deadeyerik Yeah our storys are similar. How did the land search go? Find your dream home? Well first of all we were just looking for land and I think we found what we were looking for. It is located just outside the town of Sundance. Not as many acres as I would like but State ground is only a few miles away. There is some BLM land close too. The land is a happy medium for both my wife and I. So if the wife is happy, then so and I. Remember it was her idea to move to Wyoming.
Back to the land. We have a gentle-mans handshake on the land. I told the landowner we need a few months to think it over. I don't think we will find anything better. It is a BIG Step for the both of us. We have lived here in Ohio all of our life.
Has anyone else just pick things up and moved like what we are going to do?
