Man do we ever need a break in the weather here in New York. Could be the birds have drowned. Pretty much constant rain for days and no end in sight. I spent the morning Monday in my favorite spot. The birds were there but just not responding. Spent an hour watching a little doe feed until she finally winded me. She didn't know what to make of it and would run away only to come back to investigate. It was fun watching her react.

snytrophyhunter, At least you spent the day out of the office and you enjoyed cool morning of deer watching. Sorry about no birds though.

snytrophyhunter: Yeah, it has been the same here in Missouri. Rain, rain, rain and more freakin' rain. You have to literally run around with the lawn mower dodging rain drops to get the lawn mowed before it starts to downpour again. Better luck next time with the T-birds! I hope you get a chance to enjoy some nice weather and knock down an old Tom! Take care and Good Hunting! Best Afield, Steve

This is really getting silly. We had incredible thunderstorms overnight. My Golden Retrievers tried to crawl underneath me in bed. It was like cannon fire outside. My pool is overflowing and the mulch is running down the driveway. Forget about hunting, I'll be too busy cleaning up the mess.

So there was a sudden break this morning. The rain was going to hold off until the afternoon. I decided to go out on my little row boat at a Westchester reservoir and I'm glad I did. I landed a nine pound Brown Trout. My biggest to date. I dropped another big boy at the boat and landed a four pound Smallmouth to boot. All in just a few hours. My brothers Don and Joe hit the woods and Joe managed a nice Tom with a nine inch beard and one inch spurs. Season is shaping up despite the rain it seems.

Where in Westchester? I spent a few years in that county, (and no...not as a guest of the the State of NY, if you Know what I mean).

I fish Cross River Reservoir. We take some really nice fish there. You pretty much have the place to yourself. It's under fished because of the regulations. No motor boats and you need a special permit.

Brother Joe finished off his season with a second Tom, 20 lbs and a 9 1/2 inch beard. I'll have but one more shot before the season is over.
