DU: Raise federal duck stamp to $25 Posted by Network Creator on August 5, 2009 at 7:01am in Wildlife Management & Conservatio Ducks Unlimited chief biologist Dale Humberg, testifying before the House National Resources Committee, recommended increasing the cost of a federal duck stamp from $15 to $25 to keep pace with inflation. The duck stamp, required of all waterfowl hunters 16 and older, has cost $15 since 1991. Duck stamps funds have generated $760 million to preserve wetlands habitat since the program's inception in 1934, but Humberg said land values have skyrocketed in recent years. The most recent congressional proposal calls for a $25 federal duck stamp by the 2010-11 hunting season. Humberg said that, if the stamp fee was increased by $10, an additional 16,000 acres could be conserved the following year. A Texas resident hunting license will cost $25 this season. I have no problem with this at all, as long as the extra money goes to what it is intended for and not to the Obamination.

I agree with you on that Gary. I'll pay just about any increase as long as it's going to restore or preserve hunting land for the future. Land nowadays is hard to find. So if the big guys can buy some up and help keep this hunting thing alive I'm all for it.

I agree with both of you guys as I'm sure most sportsmen would. You don't mind contributing a little more if it's going to the right place for the right reasons. I haven't duck hunted in a couple of years for varying reasons but I plan to next year. I have a yellow lab that's a year old who would love it. I felt bad for not taking him this year but I didn't have a lot of extra time between bowhunting, my boy's football games and fall fishing.
