Sorry but I'm afraid you'll have to count me out on this one. I'm not really much of a turkey hunter. And the cost is a little steap for us right now. I'm going to have to try and get some rare overtime at the mine just to pay for the Pheasant and lion hunt. As far as the Pheasant hunt goes, I'm still in for that. I've been working with Skeeter some. I think he might be working good by then. I just can't seem to get him to retrieve a bird. Fetch toys all days but not a bird. He does stand over the top of the downed bird though so thats better than nothing. And he doesn't try to eat it. That's good. I know a guy in the pointers club that says we can force retrieve. Which is forceing him to learn to retrieve. But I only see this guy durring Packer games at the bar.

There are still quite a few Nodak turkey tags left ... NRs can get in on the purchase now, it's FC-FS ... and if one is so inclined, they can buy as many as 15 tags this year ... Merely mentionin' ... becuz I ordered my second tag yesterday ... Season goes from about Oct. 10 thru the end of the year (or possibly a few more days beyond that ... ?)

Yeah ... they don't get the harvest they'd like to have, to reach (get the population down to) their goal levels ... our resident tags cost $8 each, I dismember whut a NR tag costs, but I think it's not as pricey as our "premium" ones, such as fessunt or gozzles/quackers ... only a few years ago, when the population started to increase exponentially, did they even start to allow NRs to get a tag, AFTER the first-round draw which wuz for us Nodaks only (so we don't have any disappointed turkey hunters, who got "beat out of their tag" by a NR) ... now, they've opened that part up, and allow us to shoot more birds in the fall season -- spring is Residents Only, and ONLY ONE TAG -- if I get two, that's plenty for us, but I wouldn't mind havin' a grandkid or three bein' able to shoot one ... I've not seen many birds around this past year, and the flood this spring wiped out a lot of their traditional roosting areas along the river and creek, so I'll hafta look around a bit ... got one or two ranchers where I know the birds hang out, but need to see how they feel about hunters comin' in ... Not a lot of hard-core turkey hunters here in Nodak ... many of us who do get tags have a tendency to think " ... I'll get a tag, and then I'll bag a deer -- or three -- and then I'll hunt turkeys the rest of the deer season ... " and so on ... For me, that never happens ... mostly, it's the time we don't have available in order to do "one more" hunt ... G&F lengthened the season a bunch a few years ago, realizing that this wuz the case ... it helped some, but there's still some "problem" areas with too many birds botherin' the people who live nearby, and so they keep tryin' to get 'em hunted, rather than spendin' the money to trap 'em and move 'em ...

Yeah, not too much of a hard core turkey hunter either. I ussually just carry a turkey gun while I'm deer or bear hunting and if I see one I will sneak up on it and put the smackdown on it.

I figured all the spots would have been filled by now. Money is real tight for most. And of course time.

duckwild: The hunt will take place in 2011 in Hermann, Missouri for big, old Eastern T-Birds. The cost of the hunt for 3 days -- meals, luxury lodging and guide service included -- will be at a discounted rate of $875.00 per hunter. Frank is discounting this hunt specially for United Outfitters Association - FORAHUNT.com Talk Forum Members. You will stay in luxury accommodations during the hunt. Here is a link to the accommodations: http://www.missouririverwhitetails.com/pages/lodge.htm I have stayed at this facility and it's nothing short of awesome! You will be more comfortable than you ever have been on an outfitted hunt. It would be a fantastic getaway for couples or for hunters with non-hunting spouses. The lodge offers spa services including a weight/exercise room, hot tub and sauna. PM me or call me at: 417-773-5745 for more details. Or simply post here if you are interested. Cost: $875.00 Duration: 3 Days Meals and Luxury accommodations included Here are the turkey season regulations for this past Missouri spring turkey hunt. Missouri normally schedules the spring turkey season sometime after the first of the year, but it usually starts around April 20th every year. http://www.mdc.mo.gov/hunt/turkey/sprturk/ If you would like to take part in the hunt just PM me and I will provide you with the address for sending in your deposit. Take care and Good Hunting! Best Afield, Steve
