Has anybody hunted Escalante Ranch for elk? I'm trying to put together an archery hunt in a non draw area, and I saw an ad for this place. It is in unit 62 on Uncompahgre Plateau.

I have heard some good stories of that area but have not been there myself. Had friends that went there quite a few yrs ago and did real well.

Rick, I used to live about 20 minutes south of Delta in Montrose. The whole area is pretty good for Mule Deer and Elk. You are not going to find the numbers of absolute monsters that you will in other areas, but I saw many a good elk when I was there. I have no info on the Escalante Ranch but the area is game rich. Hope this helps. You might also ask some of the folks at Bowsite.com and see if they know anything about it.
Love playing that string music and sending a Muzzy flying!

Thanks for the reply. I have talked to someone who has hunted the area for several years and they have done pretty good, non guided on BLM land. As far as not being a real trophy area, I feel any elk I can take with a bow on public land, non-guided, is a trophy. Thanks again, and I'LL let you know how we do.
