Equip Review - Wednesday, June 10, 2009 7:34 AM ( #1 )
Hey Guys,
I don't know how many of you use lighted nocks for hunting but I have gone through alot of them trying different ones out and have settled on the Tracer Nocks by Easton. They are by far the most consistent nocks I have ever used. They light EVERY single time I shoot them. It is a bit of trail and error to get the mag set in just the right spot, but once it is, it is a done deal. They are very bright and with the flash mode after 10 sec's, your eyes will pick them up alot easier than just a solid red or green light. They run about 37 bucks for a set of 4 and come with practice nocks for the weight. They add a very small bit of extra weight to your arrow but I feel it is worth it when hunting in low light situations. I have been through the Lumenocks,Archers Flames and Po Nocks and have found these to be the best by far. I also want to let y'all know about the Scorpion Venom string waxes. I bought the kit from them and never realized just how much crap was in my string until I used the string cleaner. The kit comes with a string cleaning agent, string wax/liquid lube and also serving and cam lube. It is the slickest wax on the market today and is better for your string. There is no friction when applying it to your strings which is the num one cause of string wear. It runs about 30 bucks for the kit and is well worth the money. Give either of these or both items a try. I promise you won't be dissappointed.

I would try these if it was legal to use lighted nocks here in Oregon
our regs state that we can't have any electronic device attached to bow or arrow - so that leaves out sight lights, lighted nocks, as well as their targeted no-no's such as rangefinders attached to the riser, laser sights, and tracking devices planted in the arrow shaft.
to me - most of that would just help archers make better shots and have a better chance of recovering game - but I don't make the rules

as for the Scorpion Venom - I use that stuff - it's great!

Hey Gary thanks for the post, I just may have to try some of those nocks....the Scorpion kit sounds like a really worthwhile addition to any archers equipment.

Steve,
 That scorpion wax is the absolute best stuff I have ever used. Like I said, I never knew how much crap was in my string until I cleaned it. As far as the nocks go, if you do not have a BassPro Shop nearby, Sportsmans Guide sells them also for about 4 bucks less per pkg. plus shipping. BassPro has been the only place closeby me that I have found them at. Cabela's may have them also, never looked.

I spose the nocks would come in handy in finding the arrow after it passes thru the deer. But I don't think I need it to show me that it hits the animal 1 " above the heart. {every time}

OK,I'll get serious now. The nocks are cool to watch flying thru the air like a tracer bullet, but I've never really never had a problem following the arrow to the hit. So as long as my eye holds out I don't need it for that. But like I said they would be handy for retrieving lost arrows. $34 for 4 of them. I'll get on my hands and knees and scratch the ground. I'm too tight for a luxury like that.Now if it was something like a homing devise that stuck in the animal.

I am interested in the slick string stuff though.

deadeye,
I shot a buck one time from my treestand at............... sometime in the morning on a full moonlit cold day and wished I had these nocks that morning. It took me awhile after the .........came up to find where he had gone. I did not see the hit, but knew it was on at less than 10yds from the bottom of my tree. I never did find my arrow. The website for the scorpion venom wax is scorpionvenomarchery.com  I love it.
