Drew archery Elk tag

I didn't get the rifle tag I wanted for the area but did get my backup tag. Not a surprise though. They only draw 25 rifle tags and the archery tags are unlimited. So I got what I figgered. The best thing about the archery tag is that the area is twice as big as the rifle area. And it includes my antelope area so if I see an elk while goat hunting I can go after it. With permission of course. Goat tags are suppused to be drawn at the same time but they havn't come out yet. Thats the one I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for.

Congrats on drawing your Elk tag bro, don't forget the pictures. I'm looking forward to your fed-x of a nice Elk backstrap....

good luck to you on the hunt I didn't draw a buck deer tag or an elk tag, so I've got archery tags for each, too (here, most archery tags are OTC) So, I'm kinda in the same boat as you

This elk tag is only good in a certain area, Right across the hyway from my house. If I don't score with the bow I can still use my elk tag for general rifle season. I'll be able to shoot a bull in all general areas. They have diff. rules for diff. areas. I had to spend alot of time with the regs. and lots of ? to freinds before I figered it all out.

thanx guys. Yes I've been planning this since I started coyote hunting these 2 ranches across the hyway. Talking to the ranchers wife, and she said they had 32 bulls on their ranch last year. They were always in the haystacks and in the hay fields. She really liked me cuz I was shooting all the critters that were eating her chickens. I'm going to have to go over there and do some more exploring deeper into the woods.

Don't think you'll miss much. Supposed to be 91 degrees for the opener. Be a good day to sit by a water hole. But you better have a good plan to get it out and cut up fast.
