Right now coyotes are out looking for easy food.A 40lb,coyote has to eat about 40lbs of food a week. I hunt a farm that coyotes are starting to kill the sheep,I have killed 7 in a week. You dont have to go out and buy a call, use your turkey call,if a coyote can get food with out much work they will.

Shoot them!!! I get bothered every year on my small farm. Lost 10 chickens and some ducks this year. We are at war right now. Yotes, fox, and coons all get lead poisoning. They learn to stay away. One down 2 days ago. I don't have much time to hunt them, but after shooting a couple they stop bothering to come here.

In NY baiting them is legal. Lazy mans way...We put canned dog food in a sock, tie it to a fishing pole and run the line about 100 yards from the cabin. Then we pass it thru a window and play cards and talk and whatever. When the yote grabs the sock with the food the fishing pole goes nuts in the cabin, we open the window and shoot. Or you could get a call, like a cottontail in distress and try to calll them in

We are over run with yotes. When there cycle peaks out they mostly die off with mange but so far just seeing full coats. I use powersnares with success but wouldn't work in populated area's it's not forgiving if U get a stray dog. Calling them in with a rodent distress call & decoy is a fun way to kill a afternoon in mid winter. Most of the time I shoot them in the farm yard when I see them cruising. Winter they sleep & hunt for mice in corrals & bale stacks just gotta remember to carry the gun when U go checkin cows at daylight

Mont: You are good for a least one yote every time I'm on the phone with you. Does this sound familiar? "Steve, I have to go... There's a coyote running across the yard! I'll talk to you later!" BANG!!! Take care and Good Hunting! Best Afield, Steve

Bang is the answer. I lost some chickens and ducks. Strange how lead in the air cleans the area. Yotes around here have weighed 75 lbs. and some even larger. Healthy with no mange at all. I've got to protect the farm critters. lol

Yea,... I purchased one of those new PM-4 wireless callers to help with reducing the numbers of em' here on the farm.
We had some actually attack one of our horses out in the pasture this past fall,.. I'm going to see what I can do about dropping their numbers here after the whitetail season ends on the 1st of January.
