Cameron Hanes, Bowhunter Magazine and "Bleed" - Sunday, June 27, 2010 9:40 AM ( #1 )
Guys,
If none of y'all have read any of his articles, you should. Especially the last one "The Toughest Sport?"  The article deals from the media hype of new products to the focus and dedication of us bowhunters in being able to make the shot at critical times. A couple of sentances from this article stick in my mind and that is "I sometimes wonder if hunters and writers talk and write enough about the difficulty of bowhunting? Success in this sport takes not only commitment, dedication, and woodsmanship---I sometimes feel woodsmanship is becoming a lost art---but also intense focus".  With all of the shows now days showing just the celeb's showing up, sitting in the stand and "Killing", we loose site of the fact that someone had to do the scouting, stand setting and all to prepare for this hunt. The celeb's are just reaping the benifits of someones elses hard work. I as a bowhunter, love going out, looking for sign, finding sheds and looking for the absolute best spot to hang a stand. It does not always work out to be the best but then again, bowhunting is sometimes about being mobile. Move after a couple of sits to fine tune your set and "Get er done".  If not, then just being out there is reward enough for me. I get more excited and nervous with an old doe than I do with a good buck. They have alot more wieryness to them than the bucks do for some reason.
Eating a wish sandwich is always better then being looked down at for my ethics and methods of hunting. JMO.
