Buffalo County Bucks - Wisconsin

I just spoke to my friend Pete Martin of Buffalo County Bucks this afternoon and he invited me to come and bow hunt with him during the last week in October. Since I grew up in Wisconsin and lived there for 32 years I am well aware that Buffalo County, Wisconsin is one of the best places -- if not the best place -- on Planet Earth to kill a trophy whitetail with bow or gun. I'm excited to say the least!! You all might want to check out his operation at: www.buffalocountybuck.com. Pete is an honest, hard-working outfitter who puts in A LOT of hard work during the off-season to insure your success, and his prices aren't bad either. He said that he has over 55 ladder stands -- a hang-on is also set in the same tree for filming or hunting purposes-- already in place. Another great advantage of hunting Wisconsin is that you can buy a tag over-the-counter for like $160.00, not bad! This fall I'm heading back to Wisconsin for a little homecoming, bowhunting style! Take care and Good Hunting! Best Afield, Steve

My property up there is about 2 hrs from him. Sounds like you should have a good time, providing the deer cooperate. It is not looking good so far from all of the reports for Wi.

We need a break in the weather soon throughout the whole Midwest to get the stress off all the critters!!!

Jim: Thanks... I appreciate it. tx and Topgun: Yeah I have heard from family members and friends that it has been a brutal winter; the second or third year in a row up there. I must admit that I DO NOT miss the Wisconsin winters at all! Having lived in southwestern Missouri for the past 8 -- going on 9 -- years now I have become a big wimp when it comes to snow and cold. Now, my wife -- an Ozarks native her whole life -- thinks snow is "cool and beautiful!" Yeah, well, it is cool and beautiful for a few days right around Christmas time, but when it hangs around and piles up for months and months on end like it does up there, it's nostalgic value, in my opinion, significantly decreases with each passing day! LOL!! Hopefully, spring will spring and give the animals the break that they need to make it through the rest of the winter months. I guess that's how they get big though; only the strongest of the herd survives. That's the same thing that happens up in the Canadian provinces just about every winter -- only the strongest of the species survive. It should be a fun hunt and hopefully I'll have some time to visit with a few friends and family when I'm up there. Take care and Good Hunting! Best Afield, Steve

Topgun: The Earth just moved under my feet... My wife FINALLY admitted that if the snow got that deep and lingered on she wouldn't like it either or think it was "cool and beautiful!" Did you feel that or was it just me? Take care and Good Hunting! Best Afield, Steve

I have always liked the snow, but not being in it in over 20 yrs now has made me visit it only these days. LOL It is always nice to get back home where it is warm.
