Big Jump For Pennsylvania Turkey Harvest 4/17/2009 A total of 26,485 turkeys were bagged during Pennsylvania’s fall 2008 season, one of the best seasons on record and a 19-percent increase from the last three seasons, according to the Pennsylvania Game Commission. "This fall harvest increase was expected for several reasons," Mary Jo Casalena, Game Commission wild turkey biologist, told The Outdoor Wire. "Turkey reproduction was average to above average throughout most of Pennsylvania last year, which led to a larger population. More turkeys and poor fall crops of acorns and beechnuts in many forested areas forced turkeys to concentrate around available food sources, and they consequently became more visible and easier for hunters to locate and pattern.” The largest harvests occurred in three of the state's largest WMUs, which are home to more traditional fall turkey hunting areas, and 3-week-long seasons.
"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit."
