Can't wait for the fall season. I can't believe its August next weekend. Anyone going to be in Minnesota hunting?? We have a dry sow in our hunting area that has some jewelery around her neck. She is a monster. Hopefully I will find her big daddy!!!

I shot a dry sow in 05 that was wearing a collar - I didn't know it until I found her piled up in the huckleberries (not an easy feat!) That helped me gather info on her when I returned the collar. A couple of winters before, she had twins with her when they collared her. She was 10 years old when collared (so about 12 when I killed her). They saw her once since, with only one of the yearling cubs (who knows what happened to the other). She was definitely dry and cub-less when I shot her. Good luck on your bear hunt. Ours opens Aug 1!

Wow you lucky dog or should I say you lucky duck. Do you have far to go to your bear hunting area? I would love to be able to live where there is a bear population. I really enjoy watching bears move around. There cool. I've seen bear tracks and scat within about 15-20 min drive from my house - but I know some have been seen right at the edge of town Where I normally go, I drive for an hour or hour+a half there are lots of bears in western Oregon - and since we can't bait or run them with hounds, there are getting to be more every year!
