Bear Hunts 2009 - Friday, May 15, 2009 6:55 PM ( #1 )
Here's a quick, informal update and reminder as to where I'll be going in Canada for a couple weeks of fishing and bear hunting:

Woodland Outfitting - Saskatchewan

McKenzie Outfitters - Manitoba

First I'll hunt bear with Mike Woodward of Woodland Outfitting in Saskatchewan for a week and then I plan to drive over to Manitoba where I'll meet up with "Topgun 3006" (The Talk Forum winner of the United Outfitters Association - FORAHUNT.com FREE MANITOBA BEAR HUNT/FISHING ADVENTURE GIVEAWAY) and we will hop on a float plane and fly into the wilderness of Manitoba with Monty McKenzie of McKenzie Outfitters for another week of trophy black bear hunting.

I talked to Mike Woodward's wife this morning and the bears are hitting the baits hard!  There are several large boars visiting these bait stations with many different color phase bears to choose from.  There was mention of Mike's trail cameras revealing a couple really big chocolate-colored bears along with several blacks and blonds in the mix.

Monty is already at his camp and baiting his sites for Topgun 3006 and me also.  As Monty is deep in the wilderness with only costly satellite phone reception as a way of outside communication we won't know what the baiting situation is until we step off of the plane and speak to Monty.  I'm sure he will have things set-up nicely before our arrival.

Well, it will be a long drive -- 3500 miles round trip -- but well worth it in the end.  I will see you all when I get back during the first week in June.  Hopefully, I'll have some exciting stories and a bunch of pictures to share with you all.

Best of luck to all spring bear and turkey hunters!

Thank you all for your continued support of our Web Site and Talk Forums!

Take care and Good Hunting!

Best Afield,

Steve

Thanks everyone!!!!!  I sincerely appreciate it.

Getting to bed very soon now as the alarm will ring quite loudly at 4 a.m.  LOL!!

Truck is nearly packed...  It's a little difficult and mind-boggling at times to plan for both a lodge hunt and a fly-in wilderness hunt on the same trip, but I'm managing and not complaining!

I will finish the rest of the odds and ends in the morning as angry weather is just now moving in.

See you in a week Topgun/Mike and the rest of you in two weeks!!

Take care and Good Hunting!

I'm LTTG as usual, but belated wishes of good luck, safe travels and many more huntin' stories and fotos to share when y'all return, Steve ... and Top' as well!

(Confidential to Top' ... see if y'all can straighten out Steve's general attitude of depression and gloom, when y'all are huntin' together ... please? It's a bit depressin' to have all that whining and moaning about his bad luck all the time ... y'know?)
