I saw one at a distance a few years ago chasing elk in Wyoming and then a couple years ago we jumped one and he went by me on a snowcovered hillside at about 75 yards. They are an absolutely gorgeous animal and the sight of that one up close in the snow is imprinted in my hunting memory bank as if I had photographed him!!!

I'd like to get one one of these days and have a full body mount done. I have just the right alcove to put him in. He would be done so that his legs were hanging down just as if hanging from a tree limb. Someday......

I was elk hunting into about a 20 mph wind and walked up on one sunning himself on a rock outcropping out of the wind. I was about thirty yards when I pulled up my muzzle loader and realized a few things. One: I had one shot. Two: I had open sights and a small target with the way he was laying. Three: He could get to me before I could reload. Four: I was elk hunting and not cougar hunting. Five: It was smarter to go the other way and leave him napping. The other ones I have seen have been at night as they crossed the road in front of the car and I didn't see them for long.

Thanks for sharing. I love them Lions. There is a picture of the one I took in AZ in 2006 in the trophy section.

Right. Don't think I would want to be standing on the bank trout fishing and have one of them come and get me for a mid-day snack.

Thanks for sharing the footage I've had a desire to hunt them for as long as I can remember pack off hounds crossing the snow covered mountains then the baying at a tall pine tree picture perfect. Mugster
